I know that Avery had to go but I hope the D_M FO understands that our problems are much deeper than that.
Avery had too much success in too short of a period imo. It was tough for him to live up to extremely high expectations when he over motivated for his first two years.
This team does not have what it takes no matter who is coaching.

It's all a bit odd, isn't it? The Mavs players certainly lost confidence because of how that series played out, while the front office gained some confidence just because the team got to that point in the first place. If only those two groups could've traded mindsets, we might have a championship by now.
Ironically, we probably wouldn't have needed the whole "mindset trade" if we'd lost Game 7 to San Antonio.

Not that anyone really cares what Barkley has to say, but he said it was good of Cuban to fire Avery so quickly so everyone could get on with their lives. It seems pretty abrupt to me, like they are making an emotional move, but it is the right choice and there was already much thought in it.
Avery is a great guy and I hope he ends up at Chicago or NY. I'm guessing in 5 years he'll be in SA or NO anyways, back to haunt us.
Dirk said (ESPN) after the firing:
"We probably could have opened it up a little more, have a little more free flow, let Jason create and not just make him a weakside spot-up shooter," Nowitzki said. "But, you know, Avery had us believing in the system, and that's the way he thought we could be the most efficient."
That's not how you use Kidd, as a weakside spot-up shooter. If you can't adapt your system to the talent - and not just any talent, a supposedly all-star talent - then you need to go.

ok, after picking myself up the floor after i fell off my chair laughing... if avery thinks kidd is a spot up shooter, then i think his firing is the best option that the mavs could do...
first of all, its wrong to use a hall of famer PG like kidd as just a spot up shooter...
secondly, its a sin that kidd is used as a shooter in general as kidd isnt really known for his shooting skills...
