Okay so you ignore the past evidence of him abiding by jinxes, reverse jinxes, and other superstitions? Naturally, of course you do. Because it points to the obvious. This was "over" a long time ago, when I pointed out that his flimsy logic behind picking the Lakers was a clue to how he really felt. You observed the same blatantly false logic. That was when it was over.

Who even cares about one man's opinion versus another? Simmons is not Nostradamus. He writes purely for entertainment. He has no more insight than many on this board. Let it go. Frankly I'm tired of seeing this thread continually get brought back. Remember the cliche, "opinions are like a-holes, everybody has one."

Would anybody with even a smattering of knowledge about this Celtics team say that nobody on the team has shown the ability to hit clutch shots? No. It's not something anyone could genuinely say. He wasn't being genuine. Here's how he reiterated his prediction:

Jeremy(Atlanta,Ga): If the Lakers and Celtics were to meet in the NBA Finals. What is your prediction for that series?

Bill Simmons: In my podcast before the playoffs, I picked the Lakers in 6.

Yeah, there's no particular reason why he's not re-stating his prediction in the present tense, he just felt like referring to what he had already said as a historical disembodied entity.

But anyway, keep on living in your fantasy world, where only you know what Simmons is *really* saying.

Um, not just "only me" dude, plenty of people here with an ounce of intuition and common sense.

I didn't say I was a bigger fan than him, just that he's probably not as huge a fan (at least anymore) than he probably thinks he is.

The problem with Simmons is that he acts like he is a huge fan. Most columnists aren't fans of teams - just of stories. A real fan believes his team will win despite some evidence to the contrary.

The world "fan" comes from the word fanatic - as I explained earlier. Simmons is not a fan - just an interested party. Kind of like how I bet on the Lakers over the Nuggets. I wasn't a Lakers fan even though I was "rooting" for them to beat the spread.

Simmons just needs to drop the "I speak for the Boston fan" shtick. He doesn't and has been out of touch for years. He isn't really a fan anymore at all, IMHO. Of course Peter May isn't either but at least he doesn't pretend to be.

Let's jot some down, loosely:

- Rooting for the same team to win every game +10 (Us, and him)
- Watching every game, more or less +5 (Us, and him)
- Writing about your experience as a fan nearly every day +5 (That's us!)
- Writing about your experience as a fan for a living +10 (That's him.)
- Witnessing a handful of great moments in team history in person +5 (Us!)
- Witnessing seemingly every great moment in team history for 30+ years. +10 (Him.)
- ...Up close +10 (Him.)
- Wearing silly hats and face paint to games +1 (Anyone?)
