However, they've had a year to get used to with last year's interpretation of what is an "altercation". This year I guess it was an interpretation of what is bench area.

Right. Tell yourself whatever you want to tell yourself :) KG pushed a ref, and Perkins walked towards the fight, a step and a half fully onto the court. You can say they changed the 'interpretation'.. or you can say you got fu**ed. Same thing :) Sorry. I could buy the interpretation thing.. but when KG doesn't even get fined after putting an elbow in a ref's chest and pushing.. of COURSE he didn't get fined. What were they gonna do? fine him for.. pushing a ref? Can't do that, because then you'd have to suspend him. So just ignore it. Have some no name guy release a two sentence statement, and tell ESPN to shut up about it.

When does NFL preseason start?

What's done is done. I'm not going to spend an entire season complaining about it. Let's take care of our business in Game 6.

Kind of off topic, but anyone got a laugh (the guys at the TNT studios discussed how the Suns were being wronged when there are no suspension for the Celt and Hawks) when they showed a footage of Perkins and Marvins barely stepping on the court and Barkley said it was the same thing with the Amare suspension.. They then showed last year clips and Amare was running toward the fight with his head in the crowd.

Yeah the Amare/Diaw thing was totally different. However, Stern did not enforce the letter of the law regarding KG shoving an official. The rule calls for an AUTOMATIC suspension if a player knowingly makes contact with an official.

Stern is a joke. The fact that he didn't even fine KG is ridiculous. No suspension,no fine,he didn't even get an additional technical foul in that same game. It's like they tried to pretend like that incident didn't even happen.

I also wouldn't care about the Marvin/Perkins thing if I didn't hear Stern's interview with Dan Patrick afterwards. He kept saying that the rule was "automatic" and he came across as a real jerk.

Guru is right. that interview with Patrick last year, all he cared bout saying was that he was 'binded' because once a player 'steps foot' onto the court, blah blh blah blah blah...

Now, does anyone here argue that they each didn't step a 'foot' (quote from the comish) onto the court?

It was a black and white rule. And there were absolutely no discussions by the competition committee about the rule in the offseason, so there was no 'altering'

Doesn't the rule state an automatic suspension occurs if the player leave the "vicinity of the bench." You could make an argument that Marv and Perk never left the "vicinity."

How can you say the Refs were against Atlanta last night?

Atlanta FTA 29 Boston FTA 15
Atlanta Fouls 19 Boston Fouls 22

Did they make calls that turned the ball over?

The charge calls? Because Atlanta could have had more called on them. Josh Smith was making the pick setter pay everytime in the lane which is fine to an extent but it still not football and your taking on a block.

Like I said, I'm making any judgement about the substance of the game reffing, just the flagrant/tech foul calls on Atl that Boston didn't have to deal with.

Reffing certainly didn't decide the outcome of the game, the Hawks didn't play as well as the Cs. Period.

However this is the stupidest argument I've ever seen. The Hawks were more aggressive attacking the basket, that accounts for a lot of the TOs. The Celtics jumpers were falling so they didn't have to attack the basket which is a good thing because as we learned in the ATL games, for a championship caliber team they are both mentally and physically soft.

Why do fans not realize that reffing has nothing to do with FT's shot? The officials aren't supposed to just hand half of the calls to each team.

The Celtics got called for a ton of fouls in the 3rd quarter and I immediately told my friend that they were going to stop getting those calls soon, there is no way the officials would think the C's could get beat that many times defensively and have to foul. And that's exactly what happened.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
