Would you consider trading Steve Nash?

Post#1 » by ray ray » Fri May 2, 2008 2:11 am

I know that I'm going to get blasted for even thinking of trading Steve Nash. Here are my reason why:

1) Steve Nash is on the decline. As much as I pains me to even write this post, I think this is the way of getting out of our ageing situation. The Suns need to start stacking up as much young players for the future. Lets face it, our window has close. We need to get as much value for Syeve Nash before it gets lost.

2) Steve Nash is a horrible defender. As great as he has been for years and changing the Suns orginazation and they way he has change the league offensively. He is a huge liability on the defensive side and it seems like when you but a bigger physical guard on him is becomes very unaffective.

3) Steve Nash has seems be wearing out once the the playoffs arrives. He makes poor decesions at the end of game becouse he's worn out. Nash has been the architect of the Suns offense, but when you take the part where he excels(fastbreak basketball) he becomes a good point guard instead of a MVP point guard.

I know that I'm going to get crucified fot this pot but would you do a trade that would involve the Bulls!

Trade Proposel:
Bulls trade:
Kirk Hinrich (10 mil)
Thebo Sefalosha (1.3 mil)

For

Suns trade:
Steve Nash (12.2 mil)

Why for the Bulls:
What they need is a true point guard that will be able to create for others. Guess what Steve Nash does? You put Tyrus Thomas(Marion), Lou Deng(Joe Johnson), Jokim Noah, Larry Hughes( Raja Bell), Ben Gordon(Barbosa) and Andre Nicioni(Diaw)next to Nash. Steve Nash would be drooling in his sleep. Plus he would be in the East instead of the very hard West. Then you add D'Antoni and this would be a perfect fit for the both of them.

Why for the Suns:
The Suns are the second oldest team in the NBA. This needs to change ASAP! You add youth and defense on the wing. Kirk is nowhere near offensively savvy as Nash but Kirk is a very good defensive player and at times can be very disruptive on the defensive side of the ball. Kirk is a very streaky shooter but when left open he can become deadly. Thabo is a very good defenive player(guarded dwade very well) who is very long and just needs to improve on his shooting ability. Then you would run your offensive thru Amare and Boris.

Starting lineup:
Kirk Hinrich
Raja Bell
Boris Diaw
Amare Stoudimare
Shaq

Bench
Leandro Barbosa
Grant Hill
Thabo Sefolosha
( Sign Ronny Turiaf)
Draft pick ( Hopefully Nicolas Butum)

Just a suggestion:

ONLY if D'Antoni goes and we completely change up our offensive system. If we switch to a half-court, grind out type of offense, then we don't need a "Steve Nash" for a PG, and he won't need us.

If D'Antoni stays, keeping Nash is imperative.

Nope. We need a good young point guard for him to mentor. We need him to only play 30 min or less during the regular season. We need another perimeter defender at the 3 to help Nash. But we do not NEED to trade Nash. Stockton played forever, Nash can to, if we allow him.

If we end up trading Nash, we need to try to stockpile as many 1sts as possible. Maybe expirings and a couple 1st round picks. Plus a good player of course.

I still say we keep him. Too valuable to let go. Even as a mentor and teacher and teammate.

I actually posted this on the Bulls board and added their first round pick and the majority of them said that they would do that in a heart beat. If I'm Steve Kerr and if infact D'Antoni is good as gone,I would try to call John Paxson ASAP!

Also, some of the Bulls players have heard the speculation of Coach D'Antoni becoming their head coach and they are extatic!

We'd need more than 1 first...if Kidd netted Harris+2 firsts, we'd need something equal to or greater than that offer.

actually the trade proposal was, Kirk Hinrich, Thabo Sefolosha and their 1st round pick(9th pick) for Steve Nash.

That actually isn't a bad deal at all. How long is Hinrich's contract?

We ain't gettin' Heinrich is D'Antoni goes to Chicago. He'll be the apprentice to Steve Nash who would be traded there.

On the other hand, D'Antoni goes to Chi-town...and that offer is on the table...how could we possibly refuse? Given the insane success Nash has had paired with D'Antoni, its just irresistible.

I just don't see any other path if D'Antoni leaves town. Nash will either go with him or he will retire. Nash is not at a point in his career, nor versatile enough, to start over.

i agree and I actually want to keep Nash at all costs. But Sefo, Hinrich, and a draft pick would be a great deal.
