Iggyemu wrote:Sux that he said that. But IMO it isn't worth anything. We have the pressure to win or go home. So him guaranteeing victory doesn't add to that. Add that to the fact that nobody is picking us to win. Lets just say we won't lose b/c of this. We'll lose because the Jazz are better no b/c Deke made a guarantee.

Maybe it's just me, but I am just getting the impression that he's trying to boost the morale of our players. I mean when you have a 61 year-old man making a bold statement like that who wouldn't get aroused?

Hmm or maybe not, maybe he's just senile.

We'll win if we keep the turnovers down, move the ball, and play defense. A guarantee without a focused team means nothing. And like Iggy said, if we lose it's because the Jazz are a better team.

Also, guarantees are useless unless there is something the fans get if it doesn't happen. The Hawks guaranteeing that they'd make the playoffs that year they got Glen Robinson was a genuine guarantee, because they had to refund all the season tickets.

Players promising to win a game without giving anything up if they lose is meaningless.

You know what I mean?

What's Deke going to do? Retire?

How about if the Rockets don't win, the team promises to learn to shoot free throws?

Yea like I said I don't care about the guarantee. I don't see how it adds pressure to us or makes them play harder. They are at home...pressure is on em to close us out. Pressure is on us to win or we are done. Guarantees only affect teams in those two ways and well....you don't need guarantees to have those two things happen tonight.

"Rockets center Dikembe Mutombo did not back off from his guarantee of a Rockets victory.

He said Thursday that he would be wagging his finger in Phoenix in the playoffs' next round.

After the Rockets got the Game 6 win, he was certain they would win Game 7.

"We're going to Phoenix," Mutombo said. "Don't you want to go to Phoenix? We're going to Phoenix.

"That was how confident I was that we were winning Game 6. By winning Game 6, it gives us momentum to make us build more confidence and belief in ourselves that we will win Game 7.

"That's where we are right now. We have faith we will do it."
