Monta and Andris are the future. Take care of them. Players will want to play with them.
People need to realize that Monta is a 12M a season player. If you can lock him up at 10 for 6 years, thats a bargain. I like Kevin Martin (3rd best scorer in CA...behind Kobe, and yours truly, Monta) but Monta is more gifted offensively. Kevin Martin is a great talent. So is Monta.
Behind closed doors, Biedrins should be the first one brought up for an extension. On RealGM, Monta should be the first article produced.

Hmm im not sure where u got ur stats but kevin martin averaged MORE POINTS THEN monta ellis this year and every year. So how is he the score highest scorere in california? He is the 2nd.
Anyways how was kevin martin OVERPAID? HE ENDED UP IN THE TOP 5 SCORERS IN ALL THE NBA. WHAT PLAYER IN THE TOP 5 IS PAID UNDER 12 MILLION dolalrs a year?
next monta is going to ask and demand that SAME type of money as kevin martin if not more.
11 or 11+ million a year. MOnta is not going to ask for or get LESS THEN KEVIN MARTIN. The most imporoved player of the yea rscrewed monta over for warriors fans n signing him on the cheap, or cheaper at least. so hopefully that award was worth it for you guys.
But theres just no way you guys (assuming baron doesnt opt out) thats the key point, keep baron, sign monta to 10+ mil a year at least, and sign biedrins to damn near 10 mil a year if not more and put together 5/6 players to fill ur roster that is nearly as good as this years.
Yea im not a warrriors fan but I have my eye on this situation cuz i have a stake in a beton it.

Definitely going to exceed the cap and likely to go into lux tax but I don't think it will be by that much and as floppy stated, it will only be a one year deal unless we have such a good season next year and it looks like a title run coming up the year after (which is not likely). In 2009/10 our cap looks like it will be about just 20M with Baron gone and both Al and Jack expirings as things currently stand (that's not including whatever Monta and Biedrens are making by then). All Cohan has to do is to withstand the pain for just next season, which he should be able to, seeing that they're selling out every game now. However I don't think he's spending the money unless it looks like it's going to help though. If the Warriors don't make any dumb moves this offseason, they should be in pretty good shape come 2009/10. I expect to see some moves this offseason as I expect there will be a lot of bargains out there.

i didnt say he scores the most points, Jack and baron scored more points than Monta too.
I said hes the second best scorer, as in his artillery for scoring is endless. Monta can finish with the best of them.
Lets Go Baron Davis...i dont care what jersey you put on. Lets go.
Big Smooth is focused and ready to handle the centers of the league.
Curry and Ellis will be a top 5 back court this season. 6/25/2010

If Monta/Andris get 10M a year contracts it is not likely that they would be paid 10M in the first season. It is usually a progressively higher salary through the years of the contract. So expect them to make like 7-8M each the first year.

It's hard to say how much each would make and I know all contacts start on the lowside. Even players like Dampier or Kaman are making around 9 now and Andris is a better player and will continue to get better. Kevin Martin deal starts next yr at 9.3 and Ellis will be looking for a deal at least as good as his. I would think the combined # would be close to 18 mil. But what happens if a team like Charlotte makes an offer for one of them? They can pay more since they are at 35 mil capwise.

Man that hoopshype site is just terrible (I'm assuming that's where you get 35). Charlotte is actually at 45 plus they have a big cap hold for Okafor that will put them much closer to the cap.

I don't see Monta or Andris getting contracts quite as good as Martin in Sac or Kamen in LA. Monta is not a deep threat and is a liability on defense and Andris is light in the shorts and gets pushed around quite alot, and loses rebounds that Kamen would get...
I like both players quite alot, I just would not bet the farm on them quite yet, I'm interested to see who if anyone we can sign in Free agency

Fascinating analysis. Totally careless disregard for both players' improvement, acknowledged limitations presented by Mr. Don Nelson, and their actual play. But fascinating nonetheless. I feel like we're stuck in 2007.
