Double Standard (Where is Justice)?

Post#1 » by shobe_81 » Fri May 2, 2008 7:20 pm

Seems like the League plays a big role in deciding the series which TEAMS should be doing NOT THE LEAGUE, yet they do so by holding double standards against players.

Kobe gets suspended for these incidents:

Elbow to Marco Jaric and Manu:

Lebron not suspended for this incident:

Lebron James Elbow C-Webb:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-sTAMUZxfZA

NBA Suspends Boris Diaw and Amare for stepping on the court last season during a scuffle, Yet Perkins and one of the Hawks player don't get suspended for a scuffle going on the court.

KG elbows Zaza Pachulia INTENTIONALLY (Stern's face at 27-30)

Songaila Suspended for this incident against Lebron:

Where is the justice? All I see is a double standard played! Kobe gets suspended for elbowing, Lebron gets no suspension for elbowing C-Webb! KG gets no suspension for elbowing Zaza and pushing the ref away, Songaila gets suspended for a little backhand slap to Lebron!

And I remember a year or two ago, Brian Cook had the SAME incident where he elbowed someone just like Kobe and yet there was NO Suspension!

So much for going by the Rule Book!

I saw on TNT after KG and Zaza got into to it they showed the benches and Kendrick Perkins and Marvin Williams stepped onto the court while both were on the bench.

Why no suspension? That's bulls#@$ I want some explanation from the NBA.

see page 5 of the Songaila suspension thread for a nice image of Lebron elbowing a Wizard in the face, with about a 1,000-1 chance that it was accidental.

The only thing I can think of is that the league felt the need to send a message. The Wiz were clearly going after LBJ in this series. But suspending the guy was ridiculous.

it is definitely inconsistent, and there's obviously favoritism in some cases..

I do think Kobe deserved his suspension though..

You're a known Kobe hater. Your opinion in the Kobe case doesn't matter cuz you're obviously biased against him.

I can't argue with that but Lebron definately should of been suspended for the same play on Webber.

definitely agree that Lebron should have been suspended too..

obviously the league favors Lebron though, everybody knows that..I'm a fan of his too..

that was also the period where Kobe was no longer one of the "Golden boys", so he wasn't as protected as he was during the 3-peat..at least he's regaining his "popularity with the league" this year..

i hate all suspensions really.

i hope everyone gets beyond the hate of certain superstars that always seem to go for a triple double against your team and embarrasses your favorite player.

whether its kobe, lebron, kg - whatever - none of these guys are truly dirty players or repeat offenders.

when amare was suspended, i'm not even a suns fan, and i was disappointed.

i think only repeat offenders should be suspended - someone like bruce bowen, only after he does something ridiculous.

when guys from the celtics, the hawks and the wizards did stupid things this past week during the playoffs, and stern decided to not suspened them, and only fines were given out, i thought he learned his lesson.

but to suspended darius is laughable. his teammate did the real egregious thing. what darius, kg, that dude who headbutted kg did was nothing compared to Haywood - yet darius gets suspended???! lol.

forget your fate for a particular player - its the playoffs! a big fine should be enough! i truly thought the nba, stu jackson, stern learned from that amare/diaw debacle last year. i guess not.

but again, if the wizards lose this game, darius wasn't the reason.

david stern though will always remain a dick to me because of the seattle situation. thats the true problem.

that has to be illegal, right?

grabbing a ref and using your forearm to shove him away.

where's the suspension there?

if anyone else did that (namely jackson, bryant, anthony, kmart....excluding lebron, dwade, duncan), it'd be at least 1 game.

i dislike the nba. a lot.
