Trade Idea
NJ sends:
RJ
KVH
Marcus Williams
Sean Williams
21st overall
2nd round pick
Nets recieve:
JO
Danny Granger
Indianna fans may scoff at this because they are giving up Granger, but......
They basically get RJ for Granger, which is a fair swap. Granger is only 2 years younger and he will be coming up for a big contract extension after this upcoming season.
They then get an expiring, S.Will, Marcus, a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder for JO.

We are screwing ourselves if we do this deal.
Trust me you can JO for a six pack and a packet of chips right now. His trade value is that low... Thorn will be convincing Indy management of this as we speak. He will have them thinking JO is knackered injury wise that he will be doing them a favour by taking him off thier hands for next to nothin.
I say throw in STRO instead of SWILL. DIOP wants big coin maybe throw him in as a sign and trade.
Can Frank coach the kids?

why not just try to get JO without giving up RJ......
RJ and Granger are similar but to the pacers granger is alot younger and will be better off a pacer.

Mark my words, we will never, ever ever ever get JO without giving up RJ or VC.
It's not that Indy wouldn't accept expirings, picks and one of our young guys, cause they gladly would in my opinion.
The bottom line is there isn't a iceberg chance in H E double hockey sticks Ratner takes on 45 mill for the next 2 years without sending out one of RJ or VC's contract.
It's just that simple.
FACE IT.
COME TO ACCEPT THE TRUTH.
LET IT GO MAN.

That isnt true.
After next year we can try to get JO without RJ or VC. It is called wait until his contract is over. Then try to sign him. trading for JO doesnt make sense.

I can't see him do that in Indianas current situation .
Sign him to something human but give him a security .
Right.
Sure.
Um, yeah.
Ok.
Yeah he'll do that.
STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, JO, in his fragile injury prone body is going to leave 45 MILLION DOLLARS on the table for security!
And by security I guess you mean the MLE?!!!!!!!!
And to play for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jesus you guys are Fracking (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
Seriously 8 sandwiches shy of a box of crayons.
Stop insulting your own intelligence.
Your reasoning is actually disturbing when I think that some of you may have actually been aloud to obtain driver liscenses and are on NJ streets plowing through pedestrians wearing oversized shower helmets.

Uh huh.
Where did you here this rumor?
RealGM forums?
Links please.
WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE CARE TO EXPLAIN TO SERPO WHY THIS IS UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE BY THE CBA ANS SALARY CAP.
I AM DONE WITH THIS TOPIC AND ANYONE SUCH AS YOURSELF THAT CANNOT GRASP THE ELEMENTARY FACTS OF THE NBA, THE SALARY CAP AND THE FACT RATNER IS NOT SPENDING 90 MILLION DOLLARS PER SEASON.
I AM ACTUALLY ANGRY AT THIS POINT WITH THE STUBBORNESS AND STUPIDITY OF SOME OF YOU

This is pretty much impossible. JO opting out and signing with us for the same amount is impossible. As of now, if the Nets don't sign anyone, including our own or anyone else's free agents or draft picks, we're around $51 million. The cap will probably be set around $56 million for the 2008-2009 season. This means we'll have around $5 million left to spend until we can't spend anymore because of the salary cap. Therefore, we can't sign someone like JO who will make over $20 million next season. The only way we can sign him while going over the cap is through trade. Even then we'll have to follow the CBA rules of salary matching.
Even after a JO trade, we'll be looking at a core of RJ or VC (We're not getting JO without trading one of them due to matching talent and/or salary), Harris, and JO. Not enough to win the championship seeing as a good portion of the fillers will be some solid role players or young talent. We'll then need some free agents to fill in some spots, something we might be able to do with being over the cap. For an owner like Ratner (penny-pincher that is saving for Brooklyn) to be paying so much for perhaps a first/second round exit would be very frustrating to him.
The only other way to break salary cap is through Bird rights. We don't have JO's, no need to further explain on this one.

Finally someone with some sanity and understanding.

What's the point in bringing JO here?
The motivation behind us originally trading him was to balance out our lineup, and leave us with Kidd-VC-JO as a big three on the level of Boston ( It wouldn't have been, but that was the goal).
Now, with Kidd gone, we're trading two of our best young talents for a washed up, unmotivated locker room cancer who at best was a poor man's KG?
Count me out.
These trades are getting ridiculous.
Also - no shot that Indiana gives up Granger for anything short of Thorn's first born son.
