Mavs Want D'Antoni?? WHY??

An NBA source said Mike D'Antoni is first on Dallas' wish list to replace Johnson.

Chicago and New York also might be interested in D'Antoni, but GM Kerr said he would not grant permission to a team wishing to speak with D'Antoni.

Avery Johnson was let go as Dallas' head coach earlier this week. [READ]

Oh how I would vomit. I might have to change my team allegiance.

And I thought our defense couldn't get any worse.

Del Harris makes more sense to me if Donnie just wants a coach who will roll the ball onto the court and tell the guys to just play.
Harris would at least instill some defense and let Kidd be creative on the offensive end.
I'm not sure why Donnie doesn't want to coach this team for a year...he'd certainly be better than D'Antoni.

Am I the only one wondering if the stupid decisions made by the Mavs leadership the last few years was not all Avery's doing?

Run-n-gun part deux??

Dirk publicly said he wants a coach that makes them better defensively and allows more free flow offensively. D'Antoni makes no sense if they want to achieve this.

Or they want a coaching tandem? JVG for defense, D'Antoni for offense, two masterminds working for the ultimate goal. Only in Hollywood.

I don't believe this for a second. As always Dallas is involved with everything thanks to the media.

From everything I've seen, there's no question in my mind that Avery, Donnie, and Cuban were working as a sort of GM triumvirate. I believe Avery had a huge say in re-signing Stack and JET, and then bringing in Jason Kidd (as much as he may want to distance himself from them now). But I also don't believe it's only Cuban calling the shots.

That's why I've said ditch the entire front office (except Cuban). Bring in a new crew and see how things change. I don't think that'll happen, though, because Donnie and Mark are too close.

Maybe its a ploy by Dallas to make PHX keep him. They have a talented team, but they cant win with that style. I hope hope hope that we are not seriously considering him. It would be tough for me to root for this team if he was the head coach. Makes me want to vomit.

So I guess I'm the only one who wouldn't mind this? D'Antoni would be much better for our offense than a guy like Van Gundy or Carlisle. Bring back Del Harris to the bench and have him help out defensively.

IF D'antoni couldn't win with Nash, Amare, and Marion why do you think he would be able to win here?

We traded half of our team for a washed up grandpa.
Wouldn't be surprised if we hire d'antoni as new coach.
