I doubt AK can be the secondary scorer that Dallas is lacking.

And trade board please.

Eh all you have to do is look at the two players to understand why the Jazz would turn this trade down.

Howard doesn't fit the Jazz's image.

I doubt the Jazz would do this. The Mavs would need to include another contract for the salaries to match, and the Jazz want to save money to resign Williams, Brewer and Millsap, so adding another contract wouldn't help them in their goal.

This is a pretty great trade for Utah. They cant keep underutilizing Kirilenko by playing him out of position. Here they get a first class perimeter defender which they sorely need.

what about Kidd for Kirlenko + Hapring/Korver.

Utah buys out Kidd.

Kidd resigns with Dallas for MLE.

Kidd, Terry, Howard, Kirlenko, Dirk + D"antoni as coach = 200 points per game.

Utah saves a ton of money.

Win-win right?

^Jazz could get way better than that. That hurts than more than anything.

Nellie wanted to do this trade back a couple years ago and the jazz turned it down.

So Utah trades 2 useful players for the right to throw $21M out the window so Dallas can become a much better team? Yeah, THAT'S plausible.

I think this bites for both Dallas and Utah. Utah has 3 sound scorers in Williams, Boozer & Okur and needs a defensive specialist like AK47. Dallas on the other hand has too many specialists and needs a 2nd scorer. If AK47 was in Dallas and Howard was in Utah, swapping them would make since, but right now, they are both on the correct team for this two team scenario.

Fortunately, Memphis also got 2 picks and 2 prospects, and didn't have to buy out everything they got and watch them go back to LA. Utah is in a far different situation than Memphis, where we are trying to compete, not destroy our team so that a WC opponent improves.

The final result of that trade is that Dallas gets Kirilenko and Harpring/Korver for free, whereas Utah gets to spend $21M on absolutely nothing. No, that isn't plausible.

i really don't think that Sloan would want a marijuana smoker on his roster.

I don't think that's the issue. That hasn';t been an issue in the past. LHM (the Owner) may not like it, but Jerry is a practice and game guy. If anything Jerry is more worried about his mouth than his lungs. But still, no. AK trades are hard because he can be either underrated or overrated depending on the team or game. The Jazz aren't looking for expirings, or they would have taken Marion.
