So based on the rule (so graciously posted by CPH) Sleepy is right, the TPE can be broken into two pieces, in order to acquire two players, as long as the total of their combined salaries does not exceed the total value of the TPE.

I vote Gump for President.

Marcus Camby: Re-signed to a 6 year, $55 million contract in July 2004. Contract has incentives in it for games played, which makes calculating it really hard. If Camby does NOT meet his incentives for the final two years, he will be paid $9,000,000 and $8,650,000 respectively. But as for what he'll be paid WITH them? F**k knows.

This is what Gump is referring to.

I'm bummed now.

You can add 25% to his yearly salary if he hits all of his incentives, this year he hit all but one, which is points per game, and if I remember correctly means he would recieve somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,750,000

not saying that would happen, but there are ways and your number is to high Nick.

Camby makes 8 mil next year and 7.5 the following.

Biedrins doesn't have a mid range jumper Camby does.

Camby is a prolific shot blocker, Goose is not as yet.

Those 2 manning the front court along with Wright would take this team to another level.

Protecting the rim is the main problem with our current squad. Protecting the rim will make our already good team that much better.

Getting Al Harrington out of the middle will allow for stops on the defensive end.

Camby will make as big or bigger an impact here than he did there.

The bottom line is not your inflated numbers with the tax line, but the unwillingness so far for our FO to pay when it counts.

Actually,Camby could make Al more effective. I don't thimk anyone means Beans-Camby-Wright is a regular frontline, though it could work sometimes.
I could see Beans-Camby-Wright and our pick (trade down for Thompson!!!) covering most of PF/C with Al playing some PF,some sf.

As noted up top....we would have trouble talking the Nugs into just a salary dump then would have an even harder time getting Cohen to go way over the Lux Line.

Camby CAN have 1-2 more impact years-or can fade and age right before our eyes,or have injuries. He WON'T be there in 2012,but whoever we draft at least SHOULD be. GSW has to look at what can be done-but alone he won't take us from #9 to #1. We need THAT to be the mission. I don't really agree with Squid 75 that we have to go into perpetual tank mode (again) after so many years of us picking high and not getting anywhere. FIRST..I want us to EXCELL at the draft + develop process....then we adopt a plan to add picks or (sometimes) trade up or (worst case) tank.

Tanking makes losing too acceptable. Players are supposed to bleed Warrior orange (blue..yellow..white..whatever) yet the plan is to blow games to REPLACE those same players with fresh but untested kids?

If my job operated like that.... 8) ....it could get real ugly.

Gump or Flop will correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding was that the TPE could not be combined with other players to facilitate aquiring a player with a salary larger than the exception, or larger than the salary of the outgoing player being combined with the TPE.

As far as what you can aquire with a TPE, my understanding was that you can aquire x amount of dollars in salary, in one or more transactions. So it would be two seperate deals for portions of the TPE. Atkins for 3 mil, Hunter for 3.5

I didn't think you had to use or lose all of the TPE in a deal for one player.

Someone who knows for sure will correct me, but I'm pretty sure that the issue is that you can't combine the TE with other OUTGOING salary in a trade. Incomming is a whole nother story.

Correct.

We could fragment the TPE into 3-4 deals in theory. It is also legit to "structure" so what's in reality one big deal gets officially seen as multiple deals even if they are firmly linked. We could-for instance, trade Harrington + Kosta for Camby and take Atkins,Hunter or ? with the TPE,with the deals linked and yet for the rules-seperate.

That's just one example.

He said that years ago (Old Testament) and backed it up with an Earthquake.

He's still waiting for us to BUILD something before rebuilding again. Really. Check your email.
