how would W fans feel about a bos/atl upset?

Post#1 » by akikan » Sat May 3, 2008 3:25 am

IF atlanta can pull off game 7 for a huge upset, how would you guys feel?

i mean, i want atlanta to take down boston like most people, but our little story as "the only 8 to beat a 1 in a 7game series" would be so short lived.

itll probably go down as an even bigger upset, even tho ours was a complete ass woop, atlanta's a freakin 37win team, we at least had a winning record last year

I'd take my hat off to them. We all did a lot of bitching about sub .500 teams making the eastern playoffs, and Atlanta and Philly have both represented themselves well against the more credible teams int he East.

I'g give them all the respect in the world. We still ruined Cuban's life. :D

They are in Eastern conference. No upset there because they could easily get 25 or so wins in the west.

This board reminds me of CJ Watson at the PG position.

Couldn't care less, one way or the other. Would be a huge upset obviously and Doc would be the next one likely to get put on the unemployed coaches line.

I'm rooting for Atlanta. I was pretty peeved at Stern's hypocrisy in not dealing out a suspension to Garnett or to the players that left their benches during the Garnett/Pachulia confrontation. You can't push a ref and not get a suspension. The NBA had no problem at all suspending Amare last season for doing nothing more than taking a few steps from the bench. Clearly, Stern wants a Pistons/Celtics and then a Lakers/Celtics matchup. It is very disappointing to see such a double standard and I am surprised that the media hasn't scrutinized it more than they have. Maybe congress shouldn't be just looking at Goodell, maybe they should be looking over Stern's shoulder as well.

Anyway, go Atlanta underdogs make for great stories, that is what makes the NCAA tourney so good.

I have money riding on San Antonio, so anyone knocking out Boston is fine with me ;-)

Beyond that, I think it would be a great story for Atlanta. I have no reason to dislike them. They are a young, exciting team, not that different than us. Game 7 should be fun no matter what.

If ATL wins thats great
But we ripped Dallas's heart out and ate it.
Plus the crowd made it a even bigger story.

If they win it go down like this
ATL upsets #1 seed in dramatic fashion
GS killed a 67 win team and ripped them apart.
Not bad for a team that made it on the last day of the regular season.

Too bad you missed the games, killacalijatt - the Atlanta crowd was hot. Totally made the difference for the Hawks.

Beating a 66 win team as a supposedly lower class playoff team is why the playoffs exist and there's nothing to take away from them. And, unlike Dallas, Boston plays league-leading defense. Unlike the Warriors, Atlanta has been winning games by playing incredible defense. The Warriors found some defensive distraction that worked incredibly well in big games last year but Atlanta is suddenly playing legitimate upper tier defense that works if their offense can find shots. There are no 3 point barrages and running loosey-goosey against Boston.

Like Dallas last year, Boston can be blamed for not putting it away.

They'll win the series but Atlanta and Philadelphia have made quick work of the reactionary complaints as the 50 win Western 8 seed got swept.

I'd love it...

I remember a "if Boston collapses" trade on the board here... Baron Davis for Ray Allen.

A pipe dream, I know... but still..

Its actually gotten much more unlikely with the way Rondo has played. SO I guess overall... indifference.

Rondo was good a long time ago.

What Doc Rivers is doing with Sam Cassell right now is criminal and needs to be stopped. The suspicions of cronyism that might breed unfounded "ooooh, Pierce and Baron are buddies" fancy should be reserved for Garnett and Cassell as they attempt to piss away a 66 win season on the road.

Anything to help the West win the NBA title I'm all for. Nothing irks me more than watching the West beat hell out of each other just so the East can steal it after waltzing through their playoffs.

Right, the two times the East has won the championship since Jordan retired have realy been hard on me, too.

this is the reason why realignment for playoffs shouldnt happen. ATL played well. And we all knew Boston would blow them out at home.

Josh Smith is beyond overrated. Joe and Al Horford are both better players than him.
Lets Go Baron Davis...i dont care what jersey you put on. Lets go.
Big Smooth is focused and ready to handle the centers of the league.
Curry and Ellis will be a top 5 back court this season. 6/25/2010

Horford is a lummox.

He's a gifted lummox, but a lummox all the same. Keep Monta away from that ogre.

a 25 win team winning over a boston team that would be in the top 4 in west would be an upset
