At least we didn't go out and hire Larry Brown, although I think bringing in Avery Johnson might have been a good move (if at all possible).

whoop-dee-do.

I'm thinking he should be sainted by the Pope...

....you know, because his defense is so holy.

Things might be different as he did recieve a stern talking to.

I heard Mike Heisley on the radio this morning and while I did not hear the interview in its entirety I did hear that we can basically forget any free agent signing above the mid level as it goes againist the "road map" the organization is going which is thru the draft. That does leave the door open for possible trades involving non franchise type players as that puts pressure on the organization to win now and you could potentially lose your financial flexibility especially when Rudy Gay will need to be maxed in a few years. Whether you agree with it or not at least we know the direction the organization is going in and we can now temper our expectations.

Secondly, as I suspected signing Marc Gasol will be costly. He has already received a reported 3 year 10 million dollar offer from Real Madrid and his current team that wants to resign him may go higher than that. Is Memphis ready for another over paid Gasol?

i watched the local news last night and heard Iavaroni talking to the media about the meeting and what went wrong last year and some of the plans for next year...

and it couldn't have installed a lower amount of confidence in Iavaroni in my eyes.....

it was horrible.....

he has no philosophy that is consistent....

he mentioned even slowing down and controlling the "helter skelter" offense to help focus the guys on defense....

he really called his offense "helter skelter" and it didn't come off good and joking.....he admitted his offense was nothing but anarchy with no structure or leadership.....

my opinion of iavaroni has flipped 180 from last year.....

this guy is going to lead virtually the same team next year into virtually the same record and he will eventually be let go next year......he is on borrowed time.....

will he make it past january is probably the good over/under....

I have my doubts that MI will last past his second year. The offseason will depend on how things will play in the draft and what moves the Grizz will make, if any. Unless these moves improve their weaknesses from the last two seasons, the misery will continue and the FO will look more incompetent than they already are.

I think the FO is counting on one of the top two spots again, they just aren't being vocal about it this time. As for Ivy, I think he's learned a lot after the first year. Even if he doesn't make it past the second season, I think he really grew as a head coach this past season.

Believe it that they are counting on the draft big time just like last year. If the Grizz don't win within the top two lottery picks come May 20th. Who would be worth the chance for the Grizzlies to roll the dice on?

I don't think Iavaroni will be the Grizz head coach 20 games into the season. He may not be the coach for the draft if someone better comes available.

Nothing else shows that the front office is 100% supporting you by telling you that "we've decided no to fire you"........yet.
At least he didn't get the dreaded "vote of confidence".

Why pay a fired coach and hire a new one when all you are doing is drafting as much talent as possible and losing 50-60 games?

Basically make sure Iavaroni is willing to be a "Yes, man" and move on.

Watch him smile politely as Mike Miller is traded for one 1st round and table scraps.

It would be smart though for the Grizzlies to trade up (from the Lakers pick) to get Roy Hibbert.

Brook Lopez would be a terrible fit.

No offense but, after watching Hibbert get pwned by Joey Dorsey, I would hate to see what Dwight Howard would do to him.
