Kobe gets award just because he's due for one? Weak...
chris paul had a healthy team the entire year, and he managed to pull of second. for the lakers, bynum missed more than half the season, and we got gasol in the middle of the season only to have him sit out 8 games with an ankle injury. kobe carried this team to the first place in the WESTERN CONFERENCE. isnt that why dirk won it last year?

Huh? His team was 1st in the West and that was the deciding factor. If NO didn't lose a couple of their last games and drop to 2nd there's no doubt in my mind that Paul would have gotten MVP. Best player on, record-wise, one of the best teams (forget Boston in the East). I think think that's how they should award it from now on, only if you are on one of the top teams in either conference should you be considered for the award. Sorry Lebron, but until you win with your team, you should never get the award.

I don't think you know much about the history of this award. I have said this many times, but you don't have to lead your team with the best record. Players like Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses Malone, Steve Nash, and many others have won the award despite playing on teams that weren't the no.1 seed. As long as your team is a top 3 team in your conference and you have a respectable statline, you have a very good chance. This doesn't eliminate players like Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, and Kevin Garnett to receive the award.
My MVP is Chris Paul who single-handedly carried the team to the playoffs. Based on their system, it should be evident that the Hornets are useless without CP3 and they'll be a lottery team. If Steve Nash deserved two MVPs, why shouldn't Paul be the MVP this year? CP3 has put up better numbers than Nash did during his MVP years, and moreover he does it on both ends of the floor.
KG is my other MVP candidate because Boston had the best single season turnaround since acquiring KG, and due to his impact on the defensive end, they have become the best defensive team in the league.
Seriously, I need to know what has Kobe done to warrant the MVP. His numbers were less impressive than LeBron's, his impact on defense wasn't as good as KG's, and his ability to command the offense was inferior to CP3's. This year the media voted for Kobe simply because he appears to be the best player available without to ever win the MVP. It's bogus to give someone an award just for the arguing that he doesn't have one.

Both Dirk and Kobe didn't deserve it.

CP played extremely well but did NOTHING single handedly.
Kobe lead his team just as much as any of the other candidates and should win it just based on the fact you needed to break him down against 3 different players together just to justify why he shouldn't have won.
Out of the four candidates you named only ONE was a constant factor throughout the whole season and ended up on top of the toughest conference while dealing with the most adversity. While injuries are a part of the game they cant be ovelooked in this decision. Kobe took the longest path in the race and still finished first.

That's a foolish statement.
Name one player on that team who had the same impact as Amare or Marion did when Steve Nash won the MVP. None... David West is the closest player, but he's not Amare. That just proves how big of an impact Paul had on their offense: creating easy dunks for Chandler, open shots for Peja, open lanes for Bonzi. Again, if Steve Nash won the MVP for a certain reason, I don't see why Paul didn't get the award this year. Chris Paul was nothing but spectacular. Moreover, he's better than what MVP Steve Nash did for the Suns.
Plus, what longest path are you talking about?
How about Fisher's decision to come back and play in LA? What about the Gasol trade? Those are two important factors that helped the Lakers clinched the 1st seed in the West. Don't you try to preach as if he had no help to begin with.
And I wasn't implying that all four candidates deserved the trophy more than Kobe. I simply mentioned the candidates and the reason why they're considered MVP candidates. The only players I have over Kobe are CP3 and Garnett.
