I don't think that deal was ever seriously considered. The deal that was almost done was Ron to Denver for expirings, Kleiza, and a 1st. Kleiza's a good young player and that's like a 20th overall pick. I think that has more value than Ford and a pick b/c Kleiza doesn't have the injury concerns and the Raptors having Calderon decreases Ford's value a little b/c teams know they have to deal Ford to make room for JC.

Realistically, I don't see Toronto trading Calderon [for anything, unless it some sort of unbelievable orgasmic deal]. Rumor is, he's going to ink a 4 year 8~8.5 mil contract with the Raps.

So, the at most Toronto would offer would be Ford, rights to #17, Garbo [expiring] for Artest, SAR.

IMO, Ford + Expiring + #17 > Kleiza + late first + Expiring

The more I think about it the more I think a Ford/Salmons swap makes the most sense for both the Kings and Raptors.

Kings trade- Salmons,Moore
Raptors trade- Ford,Humphries

BC liked Salmons enough to offer him a multi yr MLE level deal as the Kings did. I'd only think Salmons value his risen since then. I think he's an efficient 18-20 pt scorer for the Raptors, along with his playmaking and defensive abilities. Moore and Rasho would battle out the starting C for the Raptors, but either way Moore is a great fit in Toronto and would bring a lot of energy/leadership to that team.

Raps lineup:
Moore/Rasho
Bosh/Bargani
Salmons/Moon
Parker/Kapono
Calderon

The Kings get their Ford/Martin backcourt, and stand pat on Artest and see what the team does next year. We lose our starting PF, but maybe starting Hawes there next to Miller might not be a bad idea. Not the best defensive duo but a very skilled frontcourt and as long as Shelden Williams can be an inside presence and give us rebounding along with bringing back Justin Williams I think that frontcourt would be OK. Maybe SAR comes back from his injury and can contribute off the bench. Hawes and Williams definitely need to come back in better shape.

I also think bringing Ford here would be the end of Beno. We should keep some financial flexibility and with Ford here I dont think he's badly needed. Douby can come in off the bench and give us instant offense.

Kings lineup:
Ford/Douby
Martin/Garcia
Artest/Garcia
Hawes/SAR/KT
Miller/SWilliams/JWilliams

I think some of you are overvaluing Artest and undervaluing Calderon. IMO, Calderon is the apex of what your going to receive for Artest, and as a Raps fan I am in no way condoning this proposal. Ford + 17th is better from our point of view, but most here don't like that idea. Thus, we are at an impasse. Too bad, personally I'd love Artest on the Raps simply because we are soft and terrible defensively.

Has the thought possibly crossed your mind that there are some here who are not too keen on getting rid of Artest? What you consider "over-valuing", is what I consider a trade that would make me consider giving up Artest. And as I said many pages ago, the only player from the Raptors I would be willing to trade Artest for is Bosh...pretty simple concept.

Great thought, I love that combination. I think it's pretty good value for both teams and makes a lot of sense on both sides for basketball, financial and contractual situations involved along with team direction.

IMO the Kings would probably draft Westbrook at #12 and resign Udrih prior to the trade to be able to roll with:
C: Miller/Hawes/#45
PF: Shelden Williams/Kris Humphries/SAR/Thomas
SF: Artest/Garcia/#42
SG: Martin/Douby/Westbrook
PG: Ford/Udrih/Westbrook

That would make you guys a scrappier team, that's for sure. Not only in the traditional sense, but you'd definately be a darkhorse. Too bad the West is B-R-U-T-A-L.

That would be a nice lineup but somewhat too many at the pg spot and many unhappy with playing time.

Too many PGs. Reminds me of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their quarterbacks.

Yeah I really dont think we should resign Beno if we get Ford. Ford/Douby/Westbrook is all we need at PG, with Salmons and Garcia playing spot minutes there when needed.

Honestly I like when Cisco gets minutes as the PG over anyone else on the roster sans the starting PG.

I like the Ford/Salmons deal overall. I'm just not that big on TJ Ford.

No, I think I would hold out for a better offer...

Honestly, that is a very silly question. I can't imagine anyone around here that wouldn't drive Martin to the airport if an offer like that was on the table.

If we were offered up Ron Artest for Bosh straight up, would said people drive Ron as well?

From page 1:
KingInExile wrote:I would be interested in Artest for Bosh. Other than that...there would have to be some other damn good incentives for me to move him in a deal with Toronto.

Does that give you your answer?
