Game 7 Victory Cigar...Finish them....Fatality

Post#1 » by Spin Move » Sun May 4, 2008 7:33 pm

Well we pretty much decapitated the hawks mortal kombat style (and marvin williams almost took of rondo's head) who gets the cigar.

I go with perk his D really set the tone for this game he also grabbed 10 boards and scored 10. The hawks were not able to go downlow mainly becuase of him. Other cannidates are Pierce with 22 and 8 as our leading scorer and Garnett with 18 and 11.

Like I said in the other thread, I gave the Cigar to Perkins for the way his defense prevented the Hawks from doing what they do best - driving to the hoop and using their athleticism to score easy buckets.

Perk stuffed a few shots early which scared the Hawks and lead them to simply shooting jumpers.

Perk deserves this. He was fantastic today. His defense was on a level of epic proportions.

Gotta give it to KG. He led the suffocating D and he really came out aggressive. He took full advantage of the Hawks and didn't force anything.

Perk. He set the tone early and that carried over to the rest of the team.

2nd place: The rest of the team.

Rondo took the F2 foul that took Williams out and then fired up the crowd and team to blow wide the lead thus cementing the Hawks' demise. :wavefinger:

It's gotta be Perk. He set the tone on defense the entire game and set the tone on offense early on.

And there were people who were saying that we need another starting center? Perk is a beast!!!

I was just reading the ESPN recap of Game 7, and saw this:

Rondo found Garnett underneath for an emphatic dunk -- and the menacing gesture that will surely earn Garnett a fine from the league office -- with 3:05 left in the third.

Perk! He was phenomenal defensively! Especially his help defense was great today. He always had troubles helping out on smaller players but today he was very good. Every time JJ wanted to drive to the basket Perk was there!

But a great defensive game by everyone! Now we just have to play better offensively and we will be OK!

YES, nothing like a good mortal kombat reference. If I had all the money back, i spent playing that game in the arcade, well i would have a ton more money. Paul Pierce for me all the way. he set the tone by taking it to basket early. then KG and Rondo.

He made a throat-slashing gesture.

I gave it to Perk. He came up huge at both ends in Q1. The blocks were especially big, as they helped totally intimidate the Hawks.

Perk is a no brainer for me. He dominated defensively. It sounds bad but I take KG for granted and expect the lockdown D he had today every playoff game. When Perk plays this kind of D nobody can beat us. When you have those two wiping the boards and neutralizing drives to the paint you just cannot score 25 points in a quarter on us. Kudos also to the entire team for not fouling and funneling the guards/wings into a tough shot or by a shotblocker.

I would like to give it to Paul who was fantastic early in the game and responded well from game 6 but he also put himself in the situation to have to respond (same could be said for KG's 4th quarter on Fri) so... I am going with Perk, just first class, FTs, post moves, as well as just back breaking defense and rebounding.

It's gotta be Perk! He was amazing defensively with blocks, strips, traps, rotations, and just seemed to be everywhere. He hit the boards HARD like he needs, and is making all of his FTs. I really don't understand how the guy plays this well like 20% of the time, and disappears the rest of the time. He's clearly very talented, he just needs to be able to harness that talent all the time.

The eternal question....

Give it to a role player who played an outstanding game in his role (Perk), or give it to the actual player who was most important towards us walking off the floor with the victory (KG)?

I'll do what I always do. Voting for KG.

Great game for Perk though, hopefully he can keep this up versus the Cavs.

Return to Boston Celtics
