This isn't as bad as what the Wiz tried to do with the Cavs. The press loves to pick up on this. Anyway, Ratliff will probably get a couple of extra blocks and Lewis will get a couple of slams and they will both think they made the other team pay.

Bad Blood Brewing Between Pistons/Magic
May 4, 2008 - 7:40 pm
ESPN -
Bad blood is brewing between the Pistons and Magic following Game One of their semifinal series, according to the Associated Press.

Orlando forward Rashard Lewis fouled Theo Ratliff rather hard during Game One on Saturday, and Jason Maxiell quickly got in the face of Lewis with a few choice words.

"There's no sense in guys coming to my rescue," Ratliff said Sunday. "I mean, that was Rashard Lewis. He's a 3 man."

"You can have a lot of energy in five minutes a game," Lewis said. "What's he played? 15 games? Tell him to come out and guard me."

Maxiell decided to take some shots at Orlando's Dwight Howard as well. "He's has a very strong upper body," Maxiell said. "But if you get down low and take his legs out, he's not that powerful."

"That's not true," Howard said. "Trust me." [READ]

Theo Ratliff is a pimp.

He can talk as much smack as he likes.

Plus Max deserved to talk a little smack, as he was pretty effective in game 1.

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

exactly.

I also like how you didn't quote the part about Jameer being tired of people calling them "soft" after they all whined about Theo calling Shard a "3" and calling the team a "finesse" team.

If you can't deal with someone saying you are "finesse" and a "small forward" you don't belong in the playoffs.

I guess it might motivate some players, but If I were Jason Maxiell I would think twice about calling Dwight out like that.

I didn't actually read Maxiell's comment until now but... Wow... Idiot.

I mean what Ratliff said is true $hard is a 3, and Ratliff can handle himself but saying Dwight isn't that strong is just (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

Howard- 12 pts 8 rebs 0 asts 1 stls 3 blks 5-11 fg 2-7 ft in 35 mins
Maxiell- 12 pts 9 rebs 1 asts 1 stl 3 blks 5-8 fg 2-2 ft in 25 mins.

I doubt Maxiell cares about calling out Howard.

I'm not hiding that Jameer was upset about the Magic being called soft...if you find the link, feel free to post it. But i wasn't just talking about the Magic/Pistons. . i'm talking about everyone in general

Well if I had to guard a guy like Dwight a certainly wouldn't want to give him any extra motivation.

what's so wrong about scrubs talking smack? i'd rather have that than them always deferring and letting these supposed star walk all over them. and if you want to make it in the nba, you can't have the 'i'm a scrub' mentality anyway, so i doubt these guys think of themselves like that.

Most often the "supposed star" does walk all over them. Talking does not change that fact.

Like everyone says about the Pistons.... "You shouldn't NEED extra motivation in the playoffs." God I love how that works out sometimes.

The Pistons swept the Magic in the playoffs last year, and have won 8 straight playoff games against them... Dwight shouldn't NEED anymore motivation.

like I said in the other thread..

everybody is allowed talking..if you talk and don't back it up, you look bad..Stevenson is an embarrassment after not backing it up, so that's his punishment..if you feel like you can back it up, or your team can back it up, then feel free to say what you want..

Maxiell outplayed Howard, so he already backed up his talk..he just has to stay consistent..

Ratliff didn't say anything bad..if they were to get physical, Ratliff would obviously lay Lewis out..Theo is a beast..
