Today's Game

Post#1 » by Celtics_85 » Mon May 5, 2008 2:23 am

Just reiterates what I was saying the other day when everyone was all over the Big Three. For us to go on and win a title it is going to take guys like Perk, Rondo, Tony, Posey, Cassell, PJ, and Powe to play well when called upon. Ray, Paul, and Kevin do their thing, but it is the play of the rest of this team that really make us as good as we have been all year. When our bench plays well along with Rondo and Perk, this team is unstoppable. It is the bench that makes this team really go at top level, and they will need to be there in order for this team to win #17.

Everyone knows that lol.. but the big three can do better in terms of points and then we wouldn't need Leon Powe and Posey as much in that game

The point is, this is the way it has been all year long. Why would you change it for the playoffs? While Ray, paul, and Kevin got raged on the rest of the team got the pass. The three have toned down their game so much that they make the rest of the team feel just as important as for the overall success of this team. In Atlanta the big three did their part where the bench were the ones not making themselves noticed, and this is how they have played all year. If you ask me you need to stop refering to this team as just the big three on the court as this has really been a team effort all year and the biggest part of the success of this team has been what the bench and, Rondo and Perk get done along side the other three.

Celtics 85, you know it's different come playoff time. The rotaions get shorter. They go down from about 10 in the regular season to about 8 or 9 in the playoffs.

The starters on all teams usually have to play more. The bench players minutes get cut. That's the way it is for some reason. Your top players are asked to perform better and at a higher level. That is what was so frustrating with PGA. They struggled in this series.

I understand that the rotation gets cut down, but what I am saying is, the guys besides the big three that play will determine if we win a title. It has been the play of the rest of the guys that has determined the success this team has had this year. During the year the rotation changed from game to game to get the right matchups, but the guys that played let the other team know they were on the court also. The guys I have mentioned earlier in the thread have all stepped up big and contributed to the what this team has done, and yes you can credit the big three for this also by toning their game back some so it became a total team effort, not just theirs'.
