I'd rather let Howard smoke some pot over the summer, refresh his head, go through training cam and see him under Rick (or other coach) before I trade him for only Artest.your_dallas_mavericks wrote:^^ This of course leads us back to the Artest argument. Artest may be the best choice we could get at SG with the specifications JES12 is describing...

I prefer to keep josh ho as we can't get anything valuable for him.
And let's keep grandpa and let his fat contract expires. He's washed up and unfortunately everybody in the league knows that. So they only offer some bad contracts for him.

Actually Dallas is a good trading partner with Miami. We can offer a player that can play better with Wade (Howard), maybe 2 (Terry) and can offer a near virtual expiring back (Stackhouse).Flash4thewin wrote:The mavs are bad trading partners for the Heat. You have no lottery pick or young stud to trade. Howard isnt worth Marion and Marion has 10x more value as a max near 17 mil expiring contract.
Whether that fits what you (Flash4thewin in specific) wants is a different story. If you feel his value is more as an expiring than a talented SF for a playoff team, then so be it; use him as an expiring. Dallas' only interest was as an actual player to play with Kidd, not an expiring that we would hope to extend.
And talent wise, Howard > Marion on most teams unless you have Kidd, Nash, Paul or any other GREAT passing PG.

If the actual GMs are anything like the realgm posters on the trade forum, I totally agree with you.Henry Turner wrote:I prefer to keep josh ho as we can't get anything valuable for him.

Terry for Dunleavy and you can keep Williams.Bucky O'Hare wrote:Dunleavy and Shawne Williams for Howard.
Mav's improve their offense via Dunleavy's shooting and passing, and pick up a promising 21 year old forward in the process.
There ore only 2 players on your team we would trade Howard for...JO in a panic win now or Grainger if we are rebuilding (as he is way more foul proned to make a lateral move).

How about a package from Portland built around Travis Outlaw? Outlaw is 23 and had a breakout season last year. The Trailblazers will not be trading Roy, Aldridge or Oden, but who else would interest the Mavs for matching salaries? How about the 13th pick? Would James Jones' long range shooting and heady play help you? Jarrett Jack or Channing Frye? Sergio Rodriguez?
It probably wouldn't be possible until after their BYC status expires, but it has been talked about on the Portland board. What do you think?
