Ron Harper Mixtape

Post#1 » by bullzman23 » Mon May 5, 2008 5:58 am

Hey guys,

I decided to make a Ron Harper mix on youtube. He was a great player in the 80's and early 90's and then transformed his game to be a great role player on the greatest team ever. He was always one of my favorite guys and I always felt that he went far too unnoticed. He deserved a mix on youtube so I made one. It's my first attempt at something like this, but I hope you guys enjoy.

P.S. - For those who only remember Harper from the Bulls and Lakers, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how athletic he used to be before he blew out his knee.

You're actually wrong. I mean obviously there's jump shots, passes, and layups in there as well, but there's lots of other good stuff. You really should check it out, I've included clips from his younger days.

You realize that this guy was a 23/5/5 player his rookie year, right? With 2.5 steals and 1 block. His injuries robbed him of a lot.

Thanks. I know what you're saying, but Harp deserves his dues. He was like the shooting guard version of McDyess. A star who's best days were cut short by knee injuries, but a guy who was able to convert into a top role player.

Great stuff dude! I always remembered Ron Harper as the strangest choice for a role player cos he did so well with the Cavs and was hardly a role player. He was always on nba action's Top 10 plays of the week when I was a kid.

How'd you get all those retro videos?

Who underrated them? You don't win 72 games with just a two-man team.

Thanks, man! I was lucky that some of the old stuff was featured in other videos (one was a draft video and the other was with him and Drexler). I just compiled all the clips and made it into a mix.

Nah, the only correct memory of a player is the last one. What have you done for me lately?

Jordan = bricklaying jumpshooter in DC.
Nique = slow jumpshooter in Disney World.
Walton = some bench-warming towel-waver in Boston.
Sabonis = Sheed's gimpy towel boy.

You forgot Scottie Pippen = Swedish basketball player
Rodman = Mexican/Euro/ABA journeyman

Ron Harper was really underrated, his rookie season was one of the best ever by an NBA player.

22/5/5/2.5/1

Those are LeBron like rookie numbers, then he got hurt and was never the same.

Bulls had one of the best set of role players of all time.

Ron Harper turned himself into a great defender that could score if left one on one. He is the reason why Phil Jax prefers taller guards at the PG position.

PG Harper
SG MJ
SF Pippen
PF Rodman
C Longley

That was one athletic/defensive team......
I'm so tired of the typical......

You guys do realize that, through the first 9 years of Harper's career, he was a 19.8 point per game scorer, right? He was one of the better shooting guards in the league. Hated watching that guy play my team, because I knew he was going to hurt us on both ends...
