It's not directed at you, Rip. I just don't think it's fair to completely turn on a guy after one bad stretch.
I think people were expecting a little too much from Bibby. He's an above average PG who was once elite. He is not a good defender, an okay passer, a streak shooter, and a great leader. That's pretty much what he gave us.

Looking at that thread, I see why you are asking now. You were one of us that said shop him and we were getting bashed for saying such a "stupid" thing.
For the record, my response:
The untouchables should be horford and Smith. Everyone else should be shopped to a degree.
And I think people are missing that Bibby could very well walk away and we get nothing at the end of next season, playoffs or not. If we make the playoffs and he has a great season, he is going to command a pretty nice contract and he might not want to resign in Atlanta.
If you look at shopping a guy like him that is both talented AND a HUGE expiring contract, you could, like someone said, get a damn good point guard and a Big.
I personanlly don't think he's doing anything that couldn't be done by another point if Woodson ran the offense the same. Yes, some of the cross court passes and the pick and roll have been smoother because of his ability, but the biggest change is that they are taking the ball out of Joes hand and spotting him up on other spots on the court. And he is one of the better spot up shooters in the NBA. Joes recent explosion and Horfords for that matter have been a result of both an offensive adjustment and Bibby.
I think we can get a guy that can play and distribute like him. I wouldn't be opposed to TJ Ford actually(I know...injury prone...but at the same time....Bibby....)

There could be chances that 50% of his jumps are due to other players not being in movement and in a place Bibby can give him the ball

Seriously, I don't remember seeing him jumping so much with SAC. Wait and see next season and we would be able to really know how he can play with other Hawks players.

It would be stupid, just like keeping Lue, Wright and AJ and letting him expire. If we don't expect to re-sign him knowing he will accept a serious paycut, we have to trade him, not letting him walk for nothing, because we won't have cap room anymore, and we won't get better PG for only the MLE.

Right. Lots of people were asking for Andre Miller, but Miller would not have help Joe so much, because all the defence would have know that Joe would not be able to pass to Miller for 3, because he can't one. The little fear created by the possibility of Bibby hitting these shots have change lots of thing for Joe. Too bad it was not enough against Boston, but we have to wait for next season and see at this moment.

He has had so many chances to make this team better than it is.
Now we have 3 young forwards who to me don't have a defined role going forward on this team. There are questions regarding all 3.
We just had to slot Roy with JJ and Al and we would have a dynamite 3-some!
Now, no draft picks, so you have to be creative. Until we resolve our GM and coach positions, don't look for any creative moves from this organization.
And since BK lost out on his battle to fire Woody, has anyone heard from him? Talk about a non-existent GM!
if the Hawks drafted Roy.... they would have never gotten the 3rd pick and drafted Horford.

The problem is that little fear is all he is good for. he can't do anything else well at the point.
We could get that same effect by getting a small forward who can hit 3s.
He's not THAT limited, he's actually a decent passer and was really passing well in 2 of the home games, especially game 3. We need to run the pick and roll with him more, he's made his name as one of the best pick and roll players in the NBA. He always seems to make good passes when we do run it.

He started off making good passes but he was making alot of bone headed pass towards the end of the year and the playoffs.
When I say that nothing he is diong from this team is nothing we couldn't get from someone else, i really mean it. If he can show some consistancy and better decision making then yeah. Go Bibby. But he hasn't shown that yet.
