One More Year for Marvin

i think i'm one of the few that still has alot of faith in Marvin.

he didn't make a big leap, but he did make some slight improvements this year.... but more importantly, he did not regress.

we see this all the time, a player will add something to their game and it will impact his play and the team in a significant way next year.

Marvin just needs to work on his 3pt shot and start to make a name for himself behind the arch and i think Hawks will finally get that second 20pt scorer.

I'm fairly certain that Marvin will get another year if for no other reason than the ownership/front office tends to put off decisions until they make themselves. In this category I would put the trading of Al Harrington and the contracts of Josh Smith and Josh Childress. They'll probably do the same thing with Mike Bibby.

Trading Marvin or extending him now would take making a decision about how good is he going to become. If they wait for him to be a RFA, they can let the market set itself and then decide if that want to match, work out a sign and trade instead, or write him off as BK's blunder. They get to wait as long as possible to decide and even then they wait for someone else to decide first.

Decisive action isn't an ASG hallmark.

My thinking is that the longer we got without replacing BK, the less likely it is that any moves get made this summer. At least major ones. Many of the coaches on the market are already interviewing elsewhere. Obvioiusly it has only been a day or two since our season ended, we could find out today. Then again, we might not hear anything for a month or two.
