If you were really cautious, you'd throw Norton's "inutilities" under a bus

Just delete the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

1. Mac's suck -- get Linux if you feel like you're sophisticated enough to use a non-Windows PC. It is based on the unix OS anyway.

2. Norton sucks -- get AVG or Avast as free alternatives, get NOD32 as a premium alternative. All 3 of those are much less bloated, and NOD32 detects better.

3. Vista sucks, but ... give it time -- XP is 800 years old, it had problems going from ME to XP, most of the issues with Vista is because of drivers lagging behind, it's not up to M$ to release drivers for everything, the devs are being lazy for other companies.

4. UAC is useful -- it alerts people when otherwise succinct activites are going on in the background that you may not otherwise know are executing. I've written utilities for XP that have legit uses but can also have malicious uses quite easily, it always amazed me that no virus checkers blocked them, UAC however prompts the user that something is going on transparently and asks the user to authenticate it.

5. There are a whole lot of people posing here -- lets pretend we can do a better job than a GM, but don't whine about computers on this forum, none of us likely have near the abilities of the employees over at M$, the entire reason Windows has problems is because it is trying to maintain legacy support for applications/hardware. Do you like the alternative of Apple simply not supporting things with subsequent releases of the OS with no attempts to maintain backward compatibility? LOL, try doing that in business. You don't need it for your porn viewing, but enterprise does. If the world ran on Mac's the world would run slower because of the human learning/development curve associated with releases.

6. I apply #1 to my life -- I am sophisticated to not use Vista, I use Linux as my everyday box and prefer it 100x to Windows, but at the same time, I have a virtual machine running with Windows on it constantly as well; you'll never avoid Windows. Linux and Mac have very poor alternatives for many genre's of software: especially video/graphics related.

I don't really feel Mac is superior. The reason Microsoft is attacked is because of their market share. If Mac was used by 90% of the people on the planet. The people creating viruses would be focusing on Mac.

Mac, or unix in general, is inherently more secure toward malware because of it's architecture.

However, I agree with you, if there were more targets available on the Mac/Unix platform, there would be many more exploits.

The idea of untargeted malicious hacking is to simply attempt to search as many computers as possible looking for specific exploits, hence, you find exploits on whatever system is most prevalent to try and 'shoot the most fish in the barrel.'

Still, if you can suffice to use Mac/Unix, I would possibly recommend it because regardless of WHY, there are less viruses on it. That's one of the key reasons I use Linux, I don't have to bother using malware checkers. It's also much more stable and offers more control.

There's definitely an elitist/snob factor with a typical Mac user.

I bring that up to PC bashers in my life. If MS did what Apple did when OS X came out, people would be crucifying Bill Gate$. But $teve Job$ does it and his cult like followers think it's best and wisest course.

Which system was hacked first in the Pwn To Own?

Gee, he agrees with my sentiments and he's spot on?

Where is the love?
