If I'm trying to construct the best defensive lineup ever, it begins with Russell, and I put Frazier at the 1...

Probably:

Payton
Jordan
Pippen
Garnett/Duncan
Hakeem/Russell

Tough to decide among the bigs. I could also see Payton being swapped out for Frazier. There were comparable/more consistent man-to-man defenders than Jordan (e.g., Moncrief), but Jordan's team/help/disruptive defense gets him the nod imo. That lineup would be murder, and is a surprisigly great offensive team, too.

He's got it. Although several people can go in Pippen's spot.

1. Gary Payton
2. Sydney Moncrief
3. Scottie Pippen
4. Tim Duncan
5. Hakeem Olajuwon

If strictly going by the position they commonly played in their career.

but if you're going to go around mixing and cross matching and having players play outside of their typical position you can have better defensive lineups than this one.
