Post#1 » by ItsaVC3 » Wed May 7, 2008 1:06 am

that we can get the #1 pick in the lottery look at in the other hand the blazers had like a 3 % chance and they got it i hope we ready do get it cause we can do either 2 choices or 3 1 draft a future DH12 2 draft a rose or 3 trade the pick to get a great C in return

What is the chance we get that pick???

As much as I love Derek Rose's game, with the current state of the roster, I think you'd have to take Beasley... unless of course you could convince the Clippers to do something like Brand and Mobley for Harris, Swift, KVH, pick #21 and a future pick.

Rose, Carter, Jefferson, Brand, Boone
Marcus, Mobley, S. Williams, Krstic :D

beasley easily.

we have devin harris, no rose needed.

plain and simple is right, we can probably contend in the east with beasley.

harris - carter - jefferson - beasley - boone

im with it. ive been having a random gut feeling we might actually get it.

Guy's the NBA draft lottery is a crock. I mean if it's not, why is it held behind closed doors??????? No other lottery is conducted this way.

My theory is Stern will split the pick between minny and seattle.

1 & 2 to either wolves or sonics because Mchale gave up KG to the C's for next to nothin he will be rewarded. The City of seattle have agreed to a new Stadium and thus keeping Sonics in Seattle. Stern stepped in with a number one or two pick to make it happen.

Riley quit coaching the Heat cos he knows he can't get a top three pick. The best stern will give him is the 4th pick.

Now the 3rd pick is the only pick that is up for grabs. Thorn knows it and he is workin his silver tongue on stern as we speak to get it.

The third pick is the only pick that is up for grabs. So think of who we can get for that pick or the tenth pick.

If Thorn can't get Stern to give him the third pick I gaurantee he trades up using a player and the two picks we have.

The lottery is rigged. The top two picks are gone.

BOOK IT.

^^^

If we're going to believe that the lottery is rigged, I think Miami would be rigged to ensure Miami has a top 2 pick. Stern and the league can't be happy that one of the league's 5 biggest stars (factoring in talent and marketing) is stuck on a dreadful team.

Agreed.

I watched this whole arguement take place on one of the general boards a couple weeks ago and it was almost proven that the draft being rigged is BS.

I am a firm believer in conspiracies in general, but I always need facts and proof.

On said board within said topic one poster quoted with links the last maybe 10 years top 3 picks compared to records of the worst teams, their marketability, starts stuck on said team, location, team history, etc, etc, etc.

And you know what, it basically made it very obvious that the lottery is not rigged.

In all reality, the Celtics offer was probrably the absolute best in the league for Garnett. Period.

He was traded out of conference.

They got a very high 1st rounder.

They got Al Jeff, who is a 20 10 guy, is young, and has the potential to be a franchise player.

He also signed an extension for less then the max because he felt he was undeserving of the max at this point in his career!

You can call it stupid, because yeah, I sure did, but man that shows a lot of poise.

Who had better to offer?

Chicago with Tyrus Thomas as the center piece?

NJ, with an injured Curly and either VC or RJ's long and expensive contract for a swingman?

I mean KG basically had to Ok the trade as wel, so the team couldn't be raped of all their assets either or it mad absolutley no sense.

It's not like he would have went to Seattle for Durant, Green Wilcox and filler.

Or to Detroit for Sheed and horrible draft picks???????

Agreed.

McHale did not do that badly on the KG trade (though he absolutely butchered the Gerald Green situation). The issue was that he probably would have gotten more if he had pulled the trigger on KG a year or two earlier.

The KG deal was way fairer than the Gasol to LA deal, which was blatant collusion between the NBA and those teams to help bring about Stern's Boston vs. LA finals series.

Ok ok, gettin some different opinions.

BUT!!!!!!

No one has explained to me why the lottery draw is held behind closed doors!!!!!!!!!

It's like the UTEP two step, no one can defend it.

In regards to Miami they got thier's when shaq and flash got them thier ring. Remember MJ's Bulls Struggled for a while before cleaning up. (granted they never sucked as bad) I can see Marion being Scottie to DWades MJ. Just wait untill Wade is healthy. Stern has helped Riley enough over the years.

It's time for some one else.

Time will tell.

It's held behind closed doors but there is 1 representative per team in the lottery there to witness the drawings. so yeah it's not rigged, or at least not that easily haha.

A conspiracy is a conspiracy doesn't matter how many people are in on it.

I may have detractors on this one but it is just to suss to ignore.

Still haven't been told why it needs to be done behind closed doors??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

If there is nothin to hide put it on in prime time it would be great to see the gm's reaction as it's drawn live.

As far as I remember they don't actually use lottery balls.
That is just a phrase and made to be believed because the other sports do.
They actually use some kind of computer generated raffle system.
The excuse is it would be very boring TV, even though it is held in like 10 minutes.

Correct me if I am wrong, but they usually do it at halftime of a playoff game on the date it is scheduled?

So you are saying that they all know in advance who the picks go to. Or they do it in the back room while they are announcing the picks.

If they know in advance, the people representing the teams are damn good actors. The way they appear shocked that they got into the final 3.

Here's the whole situation. Two reps from each lotto team go to the lottery. One rep from each team is with stern as they select the lotto winners, while the other rep is in the studio waiting for the results (which is what we see on tv).

So they just log on to the Real GM draft simulator. They have twenty computers everyone clicks the icon at the same time and they take the one that suits them. I can press the simulator ten times and the nets get a top three pick. What a great way to run a 3 Billion dollar company.lol

I just feel if it was all above board then there would be no need to hide it behind close doors.
