I'm reading through some trade threads on HS and most of them revolve around signing and trading Josh Smith.
I've seen all kinds of names thrown around.
I think the real question is what can we get for Marvin?
I know everyone around here has the "We just took the C's to game 7 fever" but I just don't see how this team is going to be much better next year.
We have no draft choices and we'll have no cap room once we resign Josh Smith, not to mention Childress. How are we going to get FAs in Atlanta?
Bibby will be a year older and another injury closer to retirement.
That'll leave us with no legit playoff caliber PG and no Center....... for X straight years now.
What's worse is the Hawks will have very little flexibility to add pieces outside of a trade as I've already stated.
44 wins? You gonna be happy with that?
I'm not feeling the fever. Just not feeling it.
WTF can we get for Marvin?

We don't have a center? Did Al Horford retire?
I thnk we will have a better coach (hopefully) a Joe Johnson that starts his season in November instead of March, Smith gets better every year, Marvin also gets better every year.
We didn't lose this series against the number one seed because of Center play or because of Marvin. We lost due to lack of experience, and lack of shooters getting playing time. Nothing that can't be remedied.

Exactly, and with our starting lineup and 6th man the way it currently is, we'll NEVER have shooters getting enough playing time. That means someone has to go, and it should be Marvin or Childress, or both.

You should never get content with players because it will make you lose focus on the biggest goal. A GM needs to do what it takes to fill the holes and to improve this team at every position. Marvin's not my ideal small forward, so I hope we see what other teams are willing to trade us, but we don't need to sale him low and I seriously doubt Billy Knight would do that.

I guess I'm one of the few that seems to be fine with our core group of players (Joe, Josh, Al, Chills, Marvin)..
Only one out of that group that I would even consider trading is Marvin and we'd have to be seriously getting alot in return.
Where are we gonna get a 6th man better than Chills? Outside of Travis Outlaw, I don't see it happening. Not this year..
I know we've been waiting on Marvin to atleast show a sign of why we should continue to wait on him to develop, but I feel this season was a serious wake up call to him. Plus isn't next season his contract season? Players tend to take it to another level around that time
If we can get someone of Michael Redd's caliber in return, i'm all for it.. Mike Miller.. hell no.
@ idiots even thinking about trading Josh Smith.. from a fans standpoint or the people in charge, it's just plain stupid. Who are we gonna get for him, Dwight Howard?
I know he has mental lapses, but that's something that can be fixed with the right management around him.

We'll be better because Horford and Acie will be more seasoned, especially with hopefully good summer league play and training camp. Smoove should have his contract issues resolved, which could be a plus (or swing the complete opposite direction too).
I would love to trade Marvin for a shooter like Mike Miller or a bruiser like Milsap or Harpring.

A coach that knows how to manage minutes would be able to do it.
Our guys play alot of minutes yet don't play sustained minutes to allow them to maintain proper rhythm. Meaning, our guys might play 35 minutes, but never play more than 6 minutes in a row.
Thats just a double whammy. It doesnt allow the guys to get rhythm, but they are also playing so many minutes that they aren't able to get the bench involved.
Better coaching would solve ALOT of problems for this team.

I think Maggette would be a great fit. He's atletic and attacks the rim all the time. Mike Miller is good as well, but lacks defense skills, even though his 3 point shooting would open the floor for JJ, Smith, and Al in the paint. Since BK traded S. Williams, I think Marvin better be prepared to pack his bags. I do not know if we should get rid of him now. His value is low, very low due to his atrocius defense against the Celtics. He only played well in 1 game the whole series. I think we might just hold on to him for a while to see how far he can go. If he doesn't get better, I mean, if he doesn't make real progress till next years trade deadline, ship him out of here.
GO HAWKS.
