Naw. 'Cause they have the seperate Finals MVP for that. Season MVP is for reg season only. If they wanted to get really specific I guess they could intro' a new 'playoffs MVP' as well.

I think what may have happened here is that writers really knew they screwed up last year giving it to Dirk. They didn't want to make that mistake with Paul. As we all see now it would not have been a mistake but this thing is voted on before the playoffs start.

Still Kobe is very deserving. Can't take anything away from him but this wasn't his best season IMO. He didn't do anything special this season. I think Paul was the first player in about 15 years to average 20 points and 10 assists in a season.

But still like I said...Kobe is deserving and its good to have two people who truly deserve the award after last year's horrible decision to go with a very undeserving Dirk.

Another reason why he should have been the MVP.

This is what kills me. What the team accomplished this year was very special. Without kobe none of this would have been possible. He was criticized for years for only being SPECIAL stat wise, but now he truely leads his team when people said he couldnt and people push stats against him.

Who honestly thinks that IF HE WANTED TO that kobe couldn't average 20pts and 10ast? The points would be no concern and the assist could be done since for years people said kobe coudnt pass and he averages quite a bit of assist not. Not to mention having someone to finish now rather that trying to dish to kwame helps.

Many people in the league can score 20pts a game and top notch PG's ( which paul IS) can average 10ast which he should be doing as a distributor. Kobe is a scoring guard so he has perfected his trade and plays elite defense. So in the grand scheme of things both players are doing what they are supposed to do it just so happens kobe has made changes to his game(leadership, team play) that were said to be impossible AND finished higher in the W column which was presented to be a major factor in the MVP decision.

Kobe has already dropped 81 which wont happen again for a while IF EVER,62 in 3 quarters, had multiple 40-50pt consecutive games, all defense, all NBA seasons and that was never good enough to win this award so he decided to give the haters what they claimed he didnt have and was rewarded while still putting up great numbers as paul did himself.

And dont worry as hard as it was for the press to select kobe this season he probably wont recieve another but he earned his THIS SEASON.

It's amazing how delusional these Lakers fans really are.

Those are nice, but they shouldn't determine if he deserves the MVP THIS season. After all, this is a yearly award.

Dont see how you figure anybody to be delusional, when every criticism that is put out about him he has crushed. The fact that it could be done dosen't diminish that paul did it. Kobe scores damn near 20pts in the first quarter alot and averaged 5 assist this year and now 7 in the playoffs so to say that he couldnt switch focus to pick up 5 more after getting his points would seem stupid.

I dont have to be a fan to see that. Also its not like we are talking about T-Mac here. Call it what you want but to hear that kobe didn't do anything special is a ignorant statement.

Kobe has paid his dues, he deserves it this year. Paul has plenty of time to earn his. If the MVP was really about who is the most valuable player in a season, Shaq and MJ would've had many more MVPs than they actually have.

The MVP stands for "Most Valuable Player"... it's a yearly award. It has to go to the best player in the NBA who has led his team to a top 3 seed in his conference (this makes sense because there are 3 divisions per conference).

Hard to ask Shaq to win multiple MVPs when he has played only 49 ~ 67 games in a season.

And MJ got robbed in 97.

Doesn't matter if he can score 20 or 30 in a quarter. Reality states that Kobe has averaged 28 ppg this season, a respectable number but many players have done that before. Best record in the West? Again a great accomplishment but that's only few games ahead of New Orleans and well under the Celtics' record. Chris Paul on the hand scored 20+ and dished 10+ per game. If you do the math, Paul was responsible for more pts than Kobe did this year.

Plus, what Iggy meant to say was that Kobe was great in many ways, but he wasn't exceptional in one aspect.

I thought they were pretty neck and neck myself, with pretty fair arguments capable of being made for either one. Given that, all that Kobe getting the MVP means is that a few more people made the argument for Kobe. Whether or not they split the tie using good points, bad points, or whatever have you is fairly irrelevant as such. When it's a close race, you decide with whatever's available. (it's a good thing LeBron's team and KG's stats weren't that good or the race could have gotten really muddled)

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?
A:Ask a stock market analyst or your financial advisor
