Sure, let him play. International games aren't as physical as the NBA. It'll be a good opportunity for him to get his wind back and gain some confidence. Look how much it helped AK.
If you're concerned about his weight, either send Steve Hess to Brazil (Hess will love it there) or tell Nene that the minute his weight goes over X (255?) he's gotta come back.

Invest in a comfy set of handcuffs, because I have no idea where Nene would be without that man. I understand that all professional sports teams have top tier physical trainers, but in my opinion Hess has to be the best trainer in the NBA. Once he started making meals for Nene, the guy turned into a man of steel.

Obviously Melo didn't have Cancer..but you compared him to Carmelo playing for team U.S.A and my point was (other then the ankle injury) Carmelo has played for his team the entire season. The point is Nene has barely seemed to earn his money for the past few seasons. He breaks a fingernail and he is out for a month. You can't blame him for the Cancer (or other injuries I guess), but his team needs him just as much as they need everyone else. The guy just seems so injury proned to even trust at times. If he goes to play for Brazil and plays, fine... but if he gets hurt (again) don't come back complaining. Thats all i'm saying. I wish him the best though.

I don't see a reason why he shouldn't play, to be honest. He hasn't been on the court (as much) because of all that happened to him in 2008 so far, the extra court time might bring back some confidence in himself, which will be key IMO. Plus he'll be able to play off some rust against good competition. Playing won't have a negative effect on the cancer as far as I know, probably the opposite. I say let the guy play for his national team if he wants to.

Nuggets forward Nene will not play for Brazil in Olympic qualifying next month, according to The Plain Dealer.
Denver team doctor Steven Traina sent a letter to the Brazilian Basketball Confederation explaining Nene required more time to recover after treatment for testicular cancer and other injuries.
"This has been a difficult season for me," Nene said. "Not only on the technical side, but the emotional as well."
