with no Center in 2-3 years... that would suck, not be sick...
so no C or PG after Camby and Baron leave.. great

I bet that to the neutral fan, Josh Smith > Andris Biedrins.
I love Biedrins, he's my 2nd favorite Warrior. Kind of an odd set of skills though. But I would not say he's only fit for the fast-paced game (and anyway, isn't that how Atlanta should be playing?) - in fact, while he's great in a fast-paced environment, on offense the half court is his sweet spot... pick and roll.
All that said though, good centers are such a rare commodity, and when was the last time the Warriors had a decent one? Dampier? Seikaly? Probably way back to Webber was the Warriors last really good "center." So I would find it very hard to give up a good young player at a position of weakness (on the Dubs and around the League), for even a very good PF/SF... especially since we hope Wright will be that guy.
As trade propositions go, though, not a bad one. And I do agree that if both teams' fans are unhappy, that's the makings of a realistic trade - otherwise, no fan is "happy" unless they're outright robbing someone. And even then it's iffy.

No...we draft a C or trade BWright for one, and Monta becomes the PG when Baron leaves.
Independent of the merits of this trade idea, I think this greatly underappreciates the value of a good center. I honestly think you could go into the draft every year saying, "Screw best player available. I'm going to draft my center of the future this year.", and after 10 years you very well still might not have a decent center. Trading Wright is a plan, but that presumably would leave us with a worse player and no PF, since any other team that did manage to luck into a good center isn't going to be eager to trade him.

crzyyafrican makes the best sigs, quite frankly

Draft a C? You just traded away our draft pick. Or did you mean in the 2nd round? Sure we can find a starting center in the second round, happens all the time.

Draft one next year? Lets see, centers take on average 3-5 years to come into their own, so we would have a starting center again in 2013 or so. Great plan.

At this point we have 5, count them 5 players under contract next season. We are hardly in a position to be trading 2 for 1 or 3 for 2.
I think we should be trading down this year in the draft, maybe pick up Seattles #24 & #32, unless someone like DeAndre Jordan slides down to us at #14. I would even consider keeping the pick for Russell Westbrook.

i suggest you subscribe to league pass and watch ATL all season next year...then let me know if you believe Josh Smith is their best player.
Evidently you missed where I said arguably their best player and I watched enough Hawks games on LP to see Josh Smith is most important defensively to Atlanta.

From the perspective of a Hawks' fan that doesn't like this deal (most of us don't):
Coach Woodson is far from an innovator like Nellie. He likes to walk the ball up and iso players at the 3pt line. Smith is quick enough to get by most PFs which is why he is our second leading scorer, if only he wouldn't take the jumpers...
Horford is fine as a center and is pretty raw one-on-one be it in the high post or low post. As of now he scores off doubles to other guys.
Biedrins would be nice a PnR player but so are Smith and Horford, we just don't run as many as we should because we don't space the floor well (Williams and Childress don't hit long jumpers with any consistency).
Smith is our defensive anchor and only truly outstanding defensive player.
That is why we wouldn't want to trade him.
trickydik uses the value metric of "both teams hate it so it must be equal" which is probably true but, as many of you pointed out, if both teams hate it why do it?
