Very bad idea to go into a new season with a Lame Duck coach

Post#1 » by Sid the Squid » Wed May 7, 2008 4:30 pm

This could get 1994-95 ugly.

At least if BoomFizzle is still around, he'll be on his very best contract year behavior.

But the overall team? The young players? When they get benched for games at a time this year, they're going to totally tune out the ODB..It might even start in October.

I am glad to see you stepping out on the ledge here, Loyal Fan. At least after next season we will either be able to call you a visionary genius or a paranoid nincompoop.

I think you are right on here, Sid. Lame duck coaches essentially have no pull and I can't think of a recent situation where it has worked in a coach's favor. If the players are making more than you for the most part AND they know you aren't going to be around next year, the ear plugs go in.

Sid, does this mean you've finally given up your loyalty altogether? ;)

Maybe Nellie won't come back. I guess that's unlikely, because of the dough, but you never know.

Despite how much or little one likes the ole' dumb bastard, though, I think he's got enough cojones to keep the team in line as a lame duck.

And I could see Mully shipping any bad attitudes right off to Memphis.

I don't see ODB causing any problems as long as Mullin is here. There is a relationship there that Nellie knows he would burn, as well as Mullin if he caused problems for the franchise.
