OT - $.23 Pappa Johns pizza?

Post#1 » by Nyce » Thu May 8, 2008 3:33 pm

Did anyone catch that segment on "First Take"? I caught the tail end of it and I think they were saying Pappa Johns was selling pizzas for $.23 as a form of apology to Lebron James.

Can anyone give a more detailed recap of this? Is this only in Clev? Nationwide?

It's only for Cle people, that sucks. It's to make up for the Papa Johns crybaby Lebron t-shirts they gave out at the Wizards game 6. It's kind of funny Cavs were whining about it.

Yea its absolutely nuts. I have 3 Papa John's within 7 miles of where I live. None of them are taking phone orders, or even answering their phones and the only way to get your large is to wait in line. The problem with that is that the shortest line I saw was still at least 100 people long. Im betting most of them will be closed in a few hours with signs that say "Sold Out! Go Cavs!"

I think this is just stupid. You think whatever you want about the shirts that's fine. But why do the employees and managers of these Cleveland stores have to suffer? The cooks and front people now have to wait on a ridiculous amount of people and management of these stores is forced to sit there and lose out on a LOT of money. Papa John's better being sending the employees of this store a bonus check or paying them double time or something. If I worked for this place I'd revolt or quit.

While it does suck for employees, I believe Papa Johns is fronting the bill on all of this and reimbursing all the stores.

I'm pretty sure there is also a nice fine for all the Washington owners that were involved.

That reminds me of Gainesville Papa Johns when the hurricane hit and they were the only store open. It was 2 1/2 hours for a carry-out order.
