Barkley: Mike "don't have the (guts) to resign"

Post#1 » by Mr. Sun » Thu May 8, 2008 8:20 am

The drama has TNT analyst and Suns Ring of Honor member Charles Barkley lashing out at D'Antoni.

"Mike D'Antoni wants to leave, and he don't have the (guts) to resign," Barkley said on Dan Patrick's radio show Wednesday. "He wants them to fire him. He wants to get paid and get another job. He wants to get his cake and eat it, too. He's trying to hold them hostage. He knows he's going to get another job. He wants the Suns to fire him so he can get that $9 million they owe him.

"If he had any (guts) whatsoever, he'd say, "You know what? I don't want to be here,' but he wants them to fire him so he can get paid and get another job."

I don't blame Mike for that. He's owed 9 million and he's being pushed out the door by the dual douchebags Kerr and Sarver. I wouldn't want to work for them either, especially when I'm being unjustly blamed and ending up being the fall guy for everything that has gone wrong.

Yeah, all about the maximum money. Barkley wouldn't do it either.

I don't think they are pushing him out the door. They just want the guy to coach a little defense. Not really too much to ask.

Mike wants to leave, Mike wants the money, Mike wants to NOT coach defense and play more than 8 players in his rotation. Mike thinks he knows it all! Do the Suns have some faults in this? of course they do, but this strictly falls on Mike shoulder. His inability to twick his line up or strategy then not developing his younger players.

As much as I loved the 7 seconds or less strategy, it didn't get us sh*t! In my opinion, it's time for the Suns to move on. Also, many of US torched the Suns Front office about not getting Tom Thibidoue as a assitant coach, it turns out to be that Steve Kerr wanted and was going to hire Thibidoue. It was Mike D'Antoni who wanted Jay Humphries and many have say that Mike was insecure about hiring his replacement(Tom Thibidoue).

Barkley tells it like it is.

I'm not too sure about this coaching business, so if D'Antoni resigns he doesn't get any compensation? But if he gets fired, then his contract with PHX is pretty much bought out, so he'll leave with some money?

Why should Mike leave and recieve money from us? That's about as **** a thing you can do. He knows he's gonna get a multi-million dollar contract elsewhere but he wants us to give him 9 million dollars worth of coaching that he hasn't even provided? screw that

I odnt really blame mike for doing what he is doing but I think he needs to cut the crap because at somepoint he is going to have to learn that defense counts in this league.

I don't think we're listening to Barkley dumbass, we're logically breaking down Mike's actions and realizing that he needs to cut the sh*t, stop being a p*ssy and make a decision.

I've been so fed up with cry-baby pringles man for over 2 years and his inability to coach in a clutch game. I would have rather Nash coach last year, at least then we'd actually have a leader coaching our team.

I think it will be hilarious if Mike goes to the Knicks for the $30 Mill. they're going to offer and coach the worst team ever assembled. It will show that he cares so much about his "system" that he's willing to be bought into a coaching situation where his "system" is impossible. He will get chewed up and spit out by NY media, and will cry all the way to the bank.

Good luck Mike & good ridance, I don't want to see this guy back...60+ W's in the regular season doesn't mean sh*t to me anymore. Give me a coach who inspires his team to play their guts out every night, that's what I want.

Mike doesn't want to hold his players accountable. He doesn't want to emphasize defense a bit more. He doesn't want to play the bench. He just wants run and gun.

The front office has stated they want him to continue to lead the team as coach, but he won't compromise in certain areas where the Suns are weak in.

Stubborness over stuff like this makes me mad.

See ya Mike.

--- see above.

Do you have any illusion that if the shoe were on the other foot, the front office would do otherwise?

lol at all you guys just absolutely letting D'Ant have it. Have some respect, sure he was one of the reasons we didn't win a championship but if the basketball gods had some sympathy for us and had somethings go our way we would have at least 2 championships right now.

Mike wanting that 8.5 mil is the least of our worries right now.

Its not like the front office hasn't messed around with him. How do you actually know its about money? No one actually knows. Also, Barkley should be the last one to talk. In the same situation, Barkley would 10x worse than that, since he would be dragging the team through a war of words.

Some people may think Barkley is an idiot, but the guy has been right about quite a few things that other media people are just too afraid to say. And yeah Mike earned it more than Marcus Bank. Who was the idiot that gave Marcus Banks all that money then wouldn't play him? Oh yeah Dantoni
