In the playoffs, teams pack the paint more and concentrate on better team defense. Also, the C's offense has been lacking spacing.

Lets hope Ray breaks out of his slump soon then, I think Pierce is very effective at driving to the hoop and getting calls though, he always seems to miss atleast one free throw though.

I agree that better defense in the playoffs is a factor. Another would be the fact that they aren't converting most of their outside shots, which if they do would open the lanes a bit for them

PP went to the hole a couple of times in game 1 against Cleveland, saw a lot of contact, but got no calls.

Still, overall he looked awful offensively in game 1. The best way to get on track is to take it to the hoop, but he just looked discombobulated throughout. I expect a better effort from him and Ray tonight.

I say they are both really hurting. I think Paul's hip, back and whatever else is bothering him. I know that Ray's anckles have to be killing him. He was supposed to not play in back to back games all year. I keep on saying it but no one is listening.

^Maybe they are hurt, but I can't imagine Doc (or Danny) would allow them to log heavy minutes if that were the case.

I don't know. Doc has a history of overplaying our injured players (Wally, Big Al), and even this season, both Ray and Doc admitted that some of Ray's early struggles were based upon Ray not having fully recovered from his off-season surgery. Despite that, Ray played more minutes than anybody on the team.

Generally, the team has been much better about not rushing guys this year (Rondo, KG), but it's been an issue in the past.

I would hope to hell that isn't the case. Could be a little fatigue since they coasted the last month of the season. Or maybe they're just slumping!

I am really wondering about this as well. When Ray or Paul see Wally out there guarding them, they HAVE to take it to the hoop.

Heck, Ray was driving to the hole against the Hawks - why not give it a shot against the slow-poke Cavs?

Pierce drove a bunch of times last game. His 2nd shot attempt was a drive. 1 of his two baskets was off a drive. Like another poster said he just wasn't getting any calls inside. Ray didn't touch the ball enough to drive, he got it in catch and shoot situations or plays ran for KG.

ray made a concious effort in game 7 to take the ball to the rim, he took it to the rim alot more than he usually does, its just nothing was falling even his drives were unproductive

Paul was making Tony Allen like drives in game 1, pretty scary to watch in the 4th

Ray like an other person said was driving in game 7 but most of those drives if I remember correctly were on fast breaks

It's pretty hard to sit determined players like ray and paul, especially during the playoffs when it matters

I think we got a questionable offense, no effective games on offensive's side, when defenses are tighter is difficult to find your way to the hoop.
