The 2001 Lakers 15-1 playoff run
I was just curious where that record stands in comparison to all time?
That team ripped through the blazers and the spurs in the most lopsided western finals in history. They then surprisingly lost game 1 to the sixers and then won the next four games.
Where does that feat stand in the record books?

imo one of the best, if not the best playoff runs ever. not only did they only lose 1 game (in OT as well), but they were downright DOMINANT. very few close games, and they won convincingly against every team they faced. this is why i question the spurs so called dynasty this decade..it seems more to me that the spurs have been consistently very good, but when a team's peak is greater than theirs (such as LA's from 2000-2002), i find it hard to declare anyone a dynasty that way.

Who can forget Games 3 and 4 of the San Antonio series during those playoffs?
Talk about being blown out...
The Lakers completely DESTROYED them in those games; never thought I would see a team with Duncan/Robinson/Popovich get beaten so badly in consecutive games.
111- 72 in Game 3
111-82 in Game 4
And the Spurs had the best record in the NBA that year.
Amazing.
Too bad Shaq and Kobe couldn't stay together forever; they were awesome!

I agree. If Kwame Brown was as good as Shaq, and Washington still inexplicably traded him for Caron Butler, the Lakers would be considered a dynasty right now.
But, I'd argue, if Ben Wallace was better than a prime Shaq and the Pistons had kept him, the Pistons would be considered an even greater dynasty.

I don't see how that wasn't the best playoff run ever. Philly was a much inferior team, but the Western teams were elite. Messed up a good Tblazers team, and just raped the Kings and Spurs who were a combined 14-4 in the playoffs before meeting the Lakers.

We shouldn't, anyways.

Yeah, i feel you about Shaq and stuff but the team we got right now is legit and our future is real bright. One of the team (if not the only one) in the L that has a chance to win right now and "later"!!! So i'd put the Shaq days wayyyyyyyyyyyy behind me if i were u!!!
