AND  @ the idea of barbosa and harris making Frank come up with a coherent, effective offense. This guy is a "defensive minded coach" who can't get anyone to play defense or design an effective defensive system and hasnt done so in 3 seasons. Frank is not capable of doing anything but continuing to coach this team into the f'n abyss!!!!

Well, either design an offense or convince Thorn to hire a coach that doesn't suck.

I agree.

I've played in junior varsity high school offenses that are more effective and less complicated than that waste of time and money Frank barks out plays for.

We won't trade Vince or RJ for expirings + less talent . Thorn is not doing that . Never has and probaly never will.

He also had Picks which means he got the full package and he's shown he is willing to take a longer contract ( Hassel ) if he can get a good young player .

Which means the priority in trades in a good young player and not expirings .

This trade is trash.

Barbosa is not a starter on this team.

Barbosa was a part time starter for a few reasons:

1. D'antoni loved small ball.
He started Amare at center when he is obviously a PF.
He started Marion at PF when he is a freakishly good rebounding and shot blocking SF.
Etc, etc, etc.

2.D'antoni didn't give 2 craps about defense.
He also had the option of this with the plethora of potent scorers and playmakers including the 2 time MVP Steve Nash, who was the #1 or 2 PG in the game for years.

3. Who else did they have to start?

4. He didn't even start that much.
When he did it had to do with injuries on a few occasions, and then the fact they shipped out JJ.

5. They traded Deng.

On a side note Barbosa admitted to crying when the Suns traded Dingleberry.

Get me Skola without giving up Carter and then you're talking.
That ain't happening though.

^ IMO there are a few reason why Barbosa doesnt start. For one, it is like the situation with Ginobli caming off the bench until recently. Both teams didnt have a player off the bench that can help with the scoring. Clearly both of them can start. Pop had Finley starting over Manu. At this point Manu is much better then Finley. Another point is Barbosa can also be considered a combo guard. Who else did the suns have to back up Nash. Another point, Yeah D"ant didnt care about defense but he wasnt stupid. Bell is a better defender. So he starts over Barbosa. Barbosa adv. 29 mins a game.

It's still lesser talent. I know what you're trying to say as in terms of value, but in terms of just pure skill, Thorn traded big talent for lesser talent.
