Minor Pacer related news and tweakings

Post#1 » by Scoot McGroot » Fri May 9, 2008 3:15 am

According to Mike Wells, Pacers beat writer for the Indy Star:

The Pacers are expected to be pick up Stephen Graham's team option for next season. Graham, who got lost in the logjam at the swingman's position, only appeared in 22 games, playing a total of 128. He made the most of his limited playing time by scoring 16 points in 21 minutes against Toronto and getting 15 points in 18 minutes against Sacramento.

Also, Mike Wells mentioned that Mark Montieth (who also used to be a beat writer for the Pacers) has left the Indy Star and Jeff Rabjohns will replace him.

Mike Wells and Jeff Rabjohns will be your Pacers beat writers for the Indy Star for next year.

Nope. I'll gladly let you guys know on May 18. For those of you within earshot of Bloomington, you can listen in on B97 (96.7 I think) from 2-4 pm on May 18.

What article is that from? I tried to look but didn't find it. lol

But i liked Montieth in the old days, recently, like 2003 or so and on, he has been very odd. I havn't liked his stuff, he writes like a guy would for a espn or si and not for a home town newspaper. Not that i want bias but i dont know, i used to love reading his stuff but recently they were dull. Seemed like he lost interest in the team. Can't blame him, he covered the pacers during our best era.

I do love Mike Wells. I think he's a great writer and i noticed they increased his role last year and his blog is awesome stuff.

Any bio on Jeff Rabjohns? And any clue where Montieth is going?

I wish Woody Paige was a Indiana writer, though I don't live in Indiana, maybe we could get some more Pacer support on Around the Horn. :-p

How so? I think he is hilarious. I don't always agree with him, but same can be said for any sports writer.

I pissed off the Charlotte Observer guy when I wrote in about him basically calling Danny Granger a thug for when Gerald Wallace went into the stands.

Yeah honestly, i think you're right. I don't like his "childish antics" so to speak, i do like his opinion on sports when he's serious but thats just a character of his.

And i never heard about the Charlotte guy calling Granger a thug..... i must have missed it. Fill me in. lol

It was the first game of the season and Gerald Wallace was going for a layup, didn't realize Granger was behind him so when Granger went for the block, Wallace wasn't expecting it and fell hard. It looked awful, but when they showed it in slow motion Granger got close to all ball, it was more Wallaces fault for not balancing himself while in the air.

A flagrant was called, but the next day the writer was like "Thanks to a dirty play by Danny Granger." I was like what? Are you serious? I think it was last years season opener if I remember right.

Yea man, it was crazy. So I wrote in about it and the guy was a complete dick. He was basically saying "Well I'm a writer so my opinion is more important than yours".

I don't now. I was in Bloomington for 3 years before moving up to Indy last year. My fiancee just finished up her undergrad at IU and is still down there until she starts med school in July.

I just graduated from IU as well...sort of. I left myself one credit short intentionally because of financial aid problems when you graduate...I had to take 3 more classes anyways to apply for OT school because I switched so late. Now I'm in Indy taking classes that I could probably teach
