He would be a great fit for Walsh managament staff with the Knicks. He could fix that problem. He wouldn't make it great, but thats why they would hire a staff.

They could also make him the coach for now, and bring a passion back to Knicks basketball.

I wasn't a fan of all his decisions (Kareem Rush, namely), but I think he did a solid job here.

He did a solid job and the organization will probably suffer a bit, somehow, in some way, with his departure.

I'm most impressed that BB didn't rush things and didn't make any really disastrous decisions. When you are talking about GM's, not making huge mistakes is a big plus.

I'm not suprised either, still it's a bit of a sad day. BB was by far the most competent member of the day 1 staff.

Really though in his shoes would you want to be around when LB start pushing for trades of guys you brought in? This after having your role shrunk by the arrival of MJ and his people last year.

BB, thank you for your service to this organization. You did a great job assembling a group that was young and promising without spending a ton of money. You will be missed.

He is a great example of you don't know what you got till its gone. He got ripped as coach and once he left the team took a step back (in my opinion) His players really played hard for him and that says alot in todays NBA. I wish he would have coached 1 more season. I truely think we would have been in the playoffs if BB coached this season. Good luck if he wants to stay in the league

This was bound to happen, the positions he originally was supposed to have got filled in other ways once Jordan hopped on board. But this is alright, what Bernie does is he comes in, builds a system, and sets a franchise in the right direction. He'll never take a franchise to the championship coaching it or GMing it, but he can put the framework there for someone else to take over and get us there and that might be what he's done for us. I think he did a good job coaching and being the GM eventhough he missed some opportunities. It'll be interesting to see how Higgins and Jordan go into the draft now without him.

yeah thats odd. fired? really? i guess its all the same.

funny that bonnell keeps saying that bernie's two best gm moves were selecting gerald wallace and drafting emeka okafor at #2. had to really give bernie a ton of credit for either of those moves. everyone on the planet would have selected gerald wallace in that expansion draft. that was the easiest call of the entire summer. and selecting okafor at #2 was an equal no-brainer. how about giving bernie some credit for doing something that wasnt completely obvious to a 5 year old.

Yeah exactly, that's what I was thinking. Those were moves even Isiah would've done. I would say Bernie was valuable in a sense of the system and attitude he brought to the organization than anything. We've also got tons of high character guys on this team because of him. But like I said, he'll never make that huge move to get you to the next level and I also think he made us wait longer to see how Felton is going to pan out long term by playing him at SG for 2 seasons.

All in all, BB fits us better than he will fit in NYC. The Knicks spend a ton of money on everything. Unless he is going up there to change the culture, I just don't know about his landing there.

I think it would be more of him being part of a group of front office guys. Bernie would be part of setting this team while Walsh removes players and starts to change it up.
