Post#1 » by 76ers76ers » Fri May 9, 2008 6:44 pm

Nuggets are hearing offers for melo. What would you give to get melo?
The only way we get melo is a package involving Iggy or Thad. Hey I'll be all for it.

not if it includes Iggy, we need a good perimeter defender if we have the melo man. Id give Thad, Miller and our 1st.

I would rather keep Miller. I think he is an important key to be that contender.

I'm debating if I would do Iggy for Melo straight up.

We'd need to get a true pg and keep Lou on the bench, but that would be a tempting deal if Denver would take it.

Considering teams want expirings, picks and a prospect I would think Thad, 2 #1's (this year and Uath's) and Miller (who they could resign or use as an expring) would be appealing to Denver. I agree that Melo and Iguodala would complement each other well. each is strong where the other is weak, and I'm sure AIG would gladly give up some of his shot attempts.

I am much more of a fan of Thad than Melo (and think he is a great fit on an uptempo team) but its hard to know if Thad will develop into a Melo level star, and its not like Melo is old.

What makes you think they would? Melo is more valuable, and we both know it...

Denver is stupid enough to even hear offers for Melo.

That would be (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

This is why it is so great that the Sixers have cap space, Millers expiring and a bunch of tradeable assets. You know over the next 3 years lots of stars are going to hit the market, and the Sixers will be the best equiped team to go out and get them. Its just up to Rd to play his hand wisely and pick the right guy when they become available.

Melo is jsut entering his prime, and is the scorer/shooter we need, but I don't know if he is the right fit. If somehow they could get him for below value I certainly am for it, but I wonder if a little patience is in order.

I don't know if I would give up much more than Iggy. Melo is too 1 dimensional to dismantle my entire team.

Melo plays basketball like a 34 year old super star that has lost the athletic ability he had when he was 23. This guy never hustles for loose balls and his defense sucks. He went from being a young potential All Time great to "Chuck Person 2.0" all in a couple of seasons. Melo has never really recovered from D. Wade stealing his shine...

Not a big Melo fan. I really like him coming out of College, but the guy doesnt seem to hustle, nor show a killer instinct. Say what you want about Iggy, atleast the guy WANTS to be a leader.

There's no doubt about it that I would trade Iggy for Melo. It's too hard to find an elite scorer no matter what his other deficiencies. I can see Melo+garbage getting traded to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace and Jason Richardson. Brand Jordan...

He has turned into about the most one dimensional "superstar" in the game. you'd have to trade iggy for him but i wouldn't exactly be jumping for joy.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

I wouldn't even trade just Thad for Melo... am I being super homerific here?

If he comes dirt cheap, I guess a GM would have to think about it purely from a marketing standpoint, but IMO he's overrated and wouldn't help the team win more than what you could do with those assets instead.

i like Melo but keep him in Denver...i just dont think he will ever be a winner in the NBA...hes too selfish and is too 1 dimensional imo.

i like the young core we hve here...lets continue to build around it rather than give up a decent part of it for someone whos likely to do nothing except put people in stands.

Can't argue with the negatives, but he's with a stiff coach (and Doug Moe as an assistant), and the most knuckleheaded teammates since the Jail Blazers.

If it were Miller+AI2, I'd have to consider it.

I think the consensus in Denver is that the biggest knucklehead is Melo himself. He is a huge ball hog who talks a good team game, but doesn't play one. That said if I had a solid team in place and needed a big time scorer I would go for him, but try to build a young team around him, no thanks.
