If you could change 1 thing about the NBA, what would it be?

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Fri May 9, 2008 9:51 pm

It could be the salary cap (players making more or less), ticket prices for the league, the shot clock, officiating, complaining, commissioner, etc.

What one thing would you change in the NBA if you could in order to make it more beneficial for fans to enjoy even more?

No refs...

But seriosuly I agree no guarenteed contracts. Let them get paid after they work than before they work.

Interesting question. On a gut level, the one that appeals to me most is lowering ticket prices. It's a legit shame that people are getting priced out of the market to see their beloved basketball.

(Also, crimping the revenue streams would have a pretty big ripple effect, starting with drops in player salaries. That too would IMHO reduce one of the psychological barriers that keeps some people distant from the game.)

There are a number of others that I could rant about here, but if I only got to pick one, I'd pick that one. It affects the fans the most directly.

there are multiple things..

1. Non garunteed contracts would help the sport out alot
2. New commissioner
3. I don't like the salary cap, because big name FA's barely ever leave their cities, unless it's by trade, because teams never have cap space. I guess getting rid of garunteed contracts could kinda fix this problem.
4. new, unbiased refs. Games shouldn't be officiated by players like they often are, REFS should officiate the games. Too many times superstar players scream and yell at officials because they aren't getting ticky-tack fouls, well, that needs to change.

There's a lot to change but right now I'd like local owners for the Sonics.

1. no RFA.
2. Non guaranteed contracts.
3. Flexible Buy-out Option.
4. make sure teams don't tank games to get better picks.

Non-guaranteed is not realistic at all.

You'd have player hold outs every year.

I think the best case scenario would be that teams have the option to buy out any contract for 50%.

Basically half of every contract is guaranteed.

Lowering the ticket prices would be a great start.
