I wholeheartedly agree. Caron is my favorite player, but you have to wonder if he can go through an entire season without getting hurt.
But the Wiz FO is not gutsy enough to do this. They weren't gutsy enough to trade Jamison for Gasol because of "continuity." There's not much point in discussing this.
Would trading Butler Plus for Carmelo help us?

I agree that the Wizards don't have the stones to pull this trade off. But Melo is bigger than Caron--he can play spot minutes at the 4, whereas Caron cannot. Melo is a legit 6'8", whereas I always felt that Caron was closer to 6'6". Caron plays strong for his size, but he can't overpower players the way Melo can.
Moreover, Melo also has more of a developed post game, which would serve the team well in the playoffs.
Frankly, I'm not convinced that Caron is *that* much better a defender than Melo. Caron clearly shoots the gaps better to get steals, but his lack of size puts him at a disadvantage against the big SFs in the East (LeBron, Pierce, Turk, etc). Melo still has the potential to improve on the defensive area, and has the physical tools to better match up against those guys.
However, we would definitely miss Caron's ability to create for his teammates. Caron is a far better passer/distributor than Melo, and complements Gilbert's scoring mentality. I wonder if the ball movement would suffer with *three* finishers on the court at once.
Let's look at DEN's squad right now. DEN a scoring first PG, Melo, and a defensive-minded C. The difference between DEN now and WAS after this trade is that WAS's third scorer (Jamison) is far superior to DEN's third option (Camby/Smith). Moreover, DeShawn is a better defender than Smith. But, would the upgrade in the third scorer + the better defensive backcourt be enough to make the Wizards a force in the East?
I love Caron, but I say pull the trigger.

Douchebag, we have a trade thread.

Take it easy. If the mods want to merge this, they can.

Man you've been a jerk lately. What crawled up your ass and died? Or were you caught bending over while picking up the soap for Eddie?

Honestly I don't think it helps us, even though I think Carmelo is the better player. Quite simply too many finishers and too little defense. Plus if we traded Chris Webber for cupcakes because of his off the court issues (which, granted, was asinine), I don't know how we make a move for Melo after his current string of runins and the fact we'd be bringing him home to his old stomping ground.

Yeah, we traded Webber at a discount because of off the court issues, and he made Sacramento a premier team for 6 years. Caron's my favorite Wizard, but I'd trade him for 'Melo. Who knows? Maybe he would be more motivated to make it work here because of his local ties.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Look, the trade would have to be Butler+Filler for Anthony. Anthony has much more "value" around the nba (he'll put buts in the seat, sell jersey's, etc.). Plus, he can lead the nba in scoring.
Denver would certainly want Blatche. They want to save money. I'd give up Blatche for Anthony. ANthony is that good a talent. Remember how he destroyed us this year? Butler isn't as good an offensive player.
That leaves Butler+Blatche+Filler for Anthony. If Anthony's BYC expires, then it would be easier to trade. I feel an AD+Butler+Blatche+Songaila for Anthony+Nene is fair for both teams. Denver saves some longterm cap room. We could swap 1st rounders as well (Denver moves from 20 to 18).
The Wizards have to have the balls to make a move. Fire EJ, hire JVG, and watch this team turn into defenders. If Abe passes, you don't think Ted AOL isn't goting to go ahead with that trade?

I just don't understand why everyone respects the rules except Ji is all. So that brought out the jerky in me. That and I'm in love with the term douchebag. I don't mean to use to it in a threatening or mean way, but I can't expect other people to know that.
Keep on it keepin it real with the homophobia, though -- even if its nonsensical!

No interest in Carmelo even though I'm sure he'd like to be playing close to home in Bmore (is that a good thing). There's a reason why Denver wants to deal him. Defense. Off the court troubles. Weight issues. Why would we want to deal with a player like that. It didn't work with Iverson so why would it work with Arenas?
Love Caron Butler, even though he can't seem to stay healthy. He's not Melo in terms of size or talent, though apparently nobody is as big as Melo anymore at the 3. What is he now, 6-8, 250? No wonder why he can't defend three's.
