Best teenage pro ever?

Post#1 » by penbeast0 » Fri May 9, 2008 7:28 pm

Now that we won't be seeing any more teenagers in the NBA (supposedly), who was the best teenager ever?

LeBron James 79g .417fg% .754ft% 5.5rpg 5.9apg 20.9ppg
ROY

Kevin Garnett 80g .491fg% .705ft% 6.3rpg 1.3apg 10.4ppg

Moses Malone 83p .571fg% .635ft% 14.6rpg 1.0apg 18.8ppg

Connie Hawkins 78g .510fg% .790ft% 14.4rpg 2.5apg 27.5ppg
1st in league in scoring, 2nd in rebounding, MVP
ABL (other NBA stars playing that year include Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton, Dick Barnett, Bill Bridges, George Yardley, Bill Sharman, and briefly until injured Neil Johnston -- probably better talent than early ABA

Pretty clear who I liked though he was banned from playing in the NBA until he was 27 and had sufferred a serious knee injury that left him a shadow of the highflyer he was before (though he was 1st team All-NBA in his first year). With Bill Walton and Len Bias, one of the great whatif stories of basketball.

Gotta be Hawkins from the list of players, those stats for incredible for a teenage kid. I'd go Malone next, followed by LeBron.

Moses was an absolute monster.

Wasn't Dawkins playing pro as a teen as well? Not saying he's rival these guys, just love any excuse to talk about that nutter.
