I was dreaming last night and....

Post#1 » by ray ray » Fri May 9, 2008 1:43 pm

This post is to give your dream scenerio for the Suns in 08-09 season. It could be a coach, assistant coach, player, free agent or draft pick.

Let me start...

Head Coach: Tom Thibidoue
Assistants: Phil Webber, Alvin Gentry, Eddie Johnson  (offensive guru) and Paul Silas

Free agent:
 Micheal Pietruis, Gordon Giriciek, JR Smith,Keyon Dooling,Kurt Thomas. (I'm not saying to sign them all but at least two of them, if possible)

Draft pick: Nicholas Batum   ( athletic freak, a Shawn Marion type of player but with the ability to create a shot for himself and others. needs to be develope. Here is were Eddie Johnson comes in.)

Dream trade:Leandro Barbosa for the Bobcats draft pick. With the Bobcats pick we pick either Eric Gordon or Russel Westbrook.

Team Roster for 08-09:
PG: Steve Nash, Russel Westbrook, Grant Hill
SG:Raja Bell, Gordon Giriciek,Grant Hill
SF: Boris Diaw, Micheal Pietrus,Nicholas Batum
PF:Amare toudimare,Boris Diaw,Micheal Pietrus
C:Shaq,Amare Stoudimare, Boris Diaw

Your turn....

Agree, good coaching staff. However, I think webber will go with D'Antoni too. I like the trade Barbs for a pick, get a center with that and use ours for a point maybe.

All-in-all good post.

Don't laugh..

but, I think Suns should swap Barbosa + 15th to Bobcats for..

their pick (5~10) and Adam Morrison.

Why Adam?

I still think he has under achieved (obviously).
But look at Dunleavy now, he has under achieved all his career, now with the Pacers he has turned it up a lot.

Both are not really comparable, except they are caucasian...

But, Adam Morrison is a smart player, has the fundamentals. I think given the open looks, role he can play within the Suns system. He can become that mid range/outside threath in the mold of a Rip Hamilton.

The top 10 pick gets the Suns one of the prospect guards or a "good potential" big man.

Then they can somehow pick up another FA who is willing to play for the MLE. Maybe Kurt Thomas as someone stated, but could be another swingman or a guard depending on who the draft pick is.

Isn't Morrison close to being epicly ugly?

Shawn was no looker, but we have always had moderatly-attractive to attractive people on our roster... I just wouldn't want to go gumming that all up.

That is actually not too bad an idea. As long as we actually get a future Big and PG outta the draft. But they would probably just sell the pics for cash. :banghead:

Love it Ray Ray - really want Westbrook here, he's gonig to be a stud.

I'd also propose to MIL Barbosa, Tucker, #15 for Villa, Sessions and their pick...but might be too much from them...

I just can't see MIL sending off Sessions right now. He showed so much promise there at the end of the season. The only way they trade him is if they know the performance was a farce and teams are stupid enough to buy into it......but like I said, that guy was ballin'.

I think Morrison's value is very little right now, but I think he is very young and with the correct role and development he will be atleast a good starter.

The pick will also net the Suns a "potentially" good PG or Big man.

Suns get younger, thats a good thing.

Why would Bobcats do this?
They dont really have much role for Morrison and low on him.
Another top 10 pick doesnt really help them in the near future, they are very young already.
And they can definitely use Barbosa's scoring output.

Felton
Richardson
Wallace
Okafor
Mohammed

6th man - Barbosa

Sean May is also due back, he should bounce back to atleast be a servicable body off the bench.

Again very young team, they dont really need another "prospect".

The Bucks offer is rather difficult to pull.

Sessions, is a pass first point guard and he has shown he can ball, exactly what they need with Bogut, Yi and Redd.
If anything, Mo Williams is tradable. I'd rather have him than Barbosa however.

A Barbosa + Tucker for Mo. Williams would be fair I think, Mo can play point a lot better than Barbosa, Barbosa would be solely used as scorer for the Bucks.

^Mo Williams - a guy I'd love to have here as the backup 1/2 and eventual Nash replacement...wonder if the Bucks want Diaw or Barbosa?

I think Mo would be worth a look. With Sessions potential, you'd have to wonder why they would want to hang onto him.

Ehhh, I'll pass on Morrison. He doesn't exactly have "Winner" written all over him. I agree he has a good IQ, just does not have the tools to do it unfortunately.

With Skiles as their coach, Mo Williams and Charlie Villanueva are probably tradeable.

[Begin unrealistic trade scenarios]
The Bucks get the number 1 pick and select Rose.
Let's say that DJ Augustin is not available for the Blazers pick so the Blazers want to trade out.

Trade 1:
Blazers send:
Travis Outlaw
Pick 13 (McGee)
Jack
Blazers receive:
Barbosa
Bobcats 2nd round pick

Bobcats send:
2nd round pick
Bobcats receive:
Jack

Suns Send:
Barbosa
Suns receive:
Travis Outlaw
Pick 13 (McGee)
*trade completes after salary cap resets*

Then Batum falls to 15 and the Bucks want to trade to get him

Trade 2
Bucks send:
Mo Williams
Charlie Villanueva
Bucks receive:
Boris Diaw
Pick 15 (Batum)

Suns send:
Boris Diaw
Pick 15 (Batum)
Suns receive:
Mo Williams
Charlie Villanueva

*trade completes after salary cap resets*

Suns new lineup

Nash/Mo Williams
Bell/Williams/GG/DJ
Grant Hill/Travis Outlaw
STAT/CV
Shaq/McGee
[end unrealistic trade scenario]

I mentioned the Morrison thing a few days ago. I think he is better than what people think, and is just being used incorrectly.

Pros-
-Good shooter...could be great.
-Very good passer for position.
-Heart
-Intensity
-BBall IQ
- Fundamentally sound.
-Wants to take the last shot.
- Still on rookie contract.

Cons
-Slow white boy
-So far has been injury prone
- Not a great man defender (Bird was 2nd team all defense twice when he learned to play the passing lanes)
- Has the worst/ugliest stache I have ever seen.

I like the concept of a Morrison/pick for Barbosa/pick.

My curiosity is simply who is going to step up on perimeter D if we trade for Morrison? Morrison doesn't have the skills. Grant is good, but I don't want him to play more than 25 mpg next year. Giricek is a "willing" defender, but he isn't going to stop anyone. Strawberry is too raw on offense. We haven't seen Tucker.

Any ideas?

Amare to Charlotte for Okafor and their 1st. We draft Rose and let him learn from Nash. Use the 15th pick to draft a wing player like Batum. We stay competitive the next 2 seasons with Nash. Then Nash retires, we build around our youngsters.

Our core:
Okafor
Boris
Batum
LB (or trade him for a bigger SG if possible)
Rose

Yay!

If CHA lands top 3, you certainly would have to consider that trade...

Ahh..

its fun to speculate whilst all the other teams are stil playing for the championship. :-|

But I like the Stoudemire for Okafor + top 3 pick.

If only it is top 3 at worst.
I think if Beasley doesnt go by the 2nd pick, obviously that trade is not going to happen, but If Bobcats get that pick they dont need Mayo or Rose... Rose will be no.1 anyways... so it'll most likely be Mayo...or Bayless..

So Mayo/Bayless + Okafor for Stoudemire?

I'd probably most likely to do it... because the with that, and the 15th pick, the Suns get younger quick.... and athletic.. very quick... and finally get a hard nose big man defender.

I think seeing Diaw's post move as a starting 3, he would be a decent 3rd option so that helps... especially with a more half-court oriented setup, he'd be used against SF who cannot guard the post....

Trade Barbosa for Mo Williams or a top 10 pick... draft a point guard or another big man.

C: O'Neal
PF: Okafor (would need to be signed and trade?.. by draft night?)
SF: Diaw
SG: Bell
PG: Nash

Top 10 pick or Mo Williams
Top 3 pick
Top 15 pick
Hill
Giricek

Thats crazy mix of rookies and great veterans.

Return to Phoenix Suns
