Going young offseason plan.

Post#1 » by Nowak008 » Sat May 10, 2008 9:45 am

Sorry to subject you to another one of these, but here we go.

To start things off the trade that everyone loves:

Redd for TT+Mobley +#6

Gives us 25 mil in expirings next off season and a high pick. Please Hammond for the love of God make this deal.

Then I would target Mayo and try to move up to number 3.
After watching Horford slip through our fingers it is best to target what guy you like in the draft and go after him.

If the Timberwolves are at #3:

#7+Mason+ either CV or top 10 protected 09 for #3 +Jaric

If Memphis is #3:

#7+Mason+ either CV or 10 ten protected 09 + Bell for #3+Cardnal+Warrick

If New York is # 3

#7+ Mason + either CV or 10 ten protected 09 for #3 + Q Rich if CV is dealt or Jerome James if pick is dealt.

If Seattle is # 3

#7 + 09 top 10 protected for #3

At number 3 take Mayo and at 6 take Gallinari.

If either Westbrook or Randoph are at 13

Mo +Bell for Lafrenz+ #13

The goal is to draft both Mayo and Gallinari.
Both players have good ball handling and passing abilities that would compliment each other very well. Combine those two with Sessions and Bogut and we could have a team full of playmakers.

Obviously it depends on who lands at 3 but since the T wolves have the best chance at it so:

Jaric/Sessions
Mayo/Bell/Mobley
Galardi/Simmons/Mobley
Yi/TT/Ruffin
Bogut/Ruffin/Gadz

+#13 (Westbrook, Randoph, Love) or Mo. Having Jaric in this deal would make it easier to deal Mo since Jaric can play P in that situation.

If all those deals fell threw I would try a CV+Redd for Thad Young+Green deal.

Thoughts?

that's a team that wouldn't smell the playoffs for about 3 or 4 years.

no thanks.

I like this one as well, but can't see the Clippers doing it based on their past history. But I'd put that one in the top five list of calls Hammond needs to be making regarding Redd.

I like the Clippers deal a lot. I'd be willing to sweeten it with CV and #37 if necessary. I know you were saving CV for your other trades, but I'd rather get the "main" deal done for sure. Draft two guys willing to play defense (Westbrook + Randolph?), and trade Mo for a third (Haslem/Childress/Brewer?). All of the sudden the character of the team is a lot different.

As long as we get Adrianna Lima in that deal with Jarik I'm down with that.
All posts are my own opinion.

I like the Clippers deal, but I am not sure I like moving up in the draft to get Mayo. I think that we have just as good of a shot at hitting at 6 or 7 as we do hitting on Mayo at 3. I think an influx of two young talents would be more helpful than Mayo. If we got to draft at 6, 7, and 13, we would have our immediate depth and talent for the future. I think I like that better than drafting at 3 and 13.

Actually it would be 3,6, and maybe 13.

Anyone else interested in the Mayo/Gallinari combo?

Right. I apologize. I should have looked over the trade ups for #3 more diligently.

I think that trading future draft picks is a poor way to improve a team. I think that Gordon/Gallinari could end up being every bit as good as a Mayo/Gallinari team. That pairing could be had at 6/7 and wouldn't cost us a future first rounder or any other assets to move up.

Dont mind it. Here was my "going young" off season plan. Granted more trades can be made on draft day with all the picks.

In: Etan Thomas, Antonio Daniels, Darius Songaila, Nick Young, 08 1st (#18)
Out: Michael Redd, Dan Gadzuric

In: John Salmons, Shelden Williams
Out: Desmond Mason, Charlie Villanueva

In: Raef Lafrentz, Martell Webster, 09 1st
Out: Maurice Williams, Bobby Simmons

In: 08 1st (#10), 08 1st via Dallas (#21)
Out: 08 1st (#7) (Eric Gordon)

Why? Who doesn

Throw in the draft picks you would want, I think that they would be al ittle more appealing than counting on Martell Webster to get bigtime minutes.

I personally would go.

#10 : Russell Westbrook
#18 : Donte Green
#21 : Roy Hibbert
#37 packaged with a future 2nd rounder to move up and get : Ty Lawson

Jaric is absolute TRASH, and no way do I use the other 1st on Gallinari AND start him at SF.

Don't like that roster at all.

Id love that my Dream scenario is to get both Mayo and Gallinari in the draft. I hope the Bucks pull it off.

What? Gallinari is a SF, and we need an SF, why the hell wouldnt you pick him, if we already had Mayo? Who else would you take there, Cant take Gordon or Westbrook, cause we already took Mayo, Gallinari is the only one that makes sense, with that pick.

We aren't trading for Jaric. We are trading up for the 3rd pick in the draft. Taking his salary on is part of the deal. Just giving them CV isn't going to do it.

You could bring Gallinari off the bench that doesn't really matter. I think he could beat what we have in training camp.
