I think it's a good move for our organization. I'll bet the trades ae going to be fast and furious over the next several months!

If we don't make one single trade this offseason, I'll personally hold you responsible.

I'm excited about this. I want a complete blowup (not a fire-sale though) and what Kiki did in Denver is exactly the type of thing I have in mind. I hope Thorn has taken note of what Denver and Boston did right and wrong.
Denver blew their money on the wrong free agent and mistimed a few contracts. Boston should have traded Pierce for Van Exel and the #3 overall in the Chris Paul/Deron Williams draft.

Unless there's something i missed i don't see this kind of prospects in the 09 Draft and that would be the only reason to willingly lose a lot of money.
I think you're overstating the financial impact of being a lottery team. Even if they maintained the status quo or traded for a guy like JO, this team would still lose a lot of money. Considering the team's lame duck status in NJ, the arena they play in and their sparse attendance when they were good, I think they are more likely to lose less money by cutting costs rather than make a desperate attempt to get a few hundred more in the seats.

There's still no reason to do what Kiki has done in Denver if the draft next years doesn't nearly has prospects like the 03 Draft had .
He willingly build one of the worst teams EVER to get Lebron , Darko or Melo . Now tell me is there anybody that looks as good as these guys have looked in the next Draft ?

Two things.
1. It's too early to project next year's draft. Based on how he was rated out of High School, how many people had Beasley as a top 5 draft pick a year ago?
2. To say Kiki's draft/moves was made solely to get a top 3 pick in the LeBron draft is pretty disingenuous IMO. Considering in addition Melo, as part of the rebuild he traded for a top 10 pick (Nene), added another young building block player via trade (Camby) and created the cap room needed to bring in Andre Miller and Kenyon Martin.

Will Thorn actually let Kiki make trades or will he just be running the phones for Thorn? I think it is a good move. He has proven that he can clean up a roster. But remember, he drafted that Euro that was terrible, Skita.
As an outsider, it seems to me that with his track record the Nets may be going into full rebuild mode like Portland did trying to position themselves for a couple free agents when LBJ and Wade could be available. Your in better shape than Portland was when they started. Portland had nobody worth keeping.
Who do you think are untouchable on the Nets? I would just say I think Harris and maybe a couple guys on rookie deals should be kept. Get as many youngsters and picks as you can for RJ and Carter. Move them while you can and go into free agency with $30+ mil to work with in a couple seasons. Good luck.

If the Nets are going to rebuild, I think Carter's a definite goner. I'd have to think Harris is the only true untouchable if this was the direction they went in.
Jefferson is a little trickier since he'll be 30 by the year LeBron, etc. hit free agency. While he wouldn't be young, I don't think it's a stretch to say that he can still be a major contributor by the time that big FA is available.

There are always great prospects. In the next two years it is a guarantee that there will be some eventual all-star caliber players available. The blow-up rebuild gives us a chance at those guys, adds them to Harris, and in comparison to Denver also gives us a much better selection of free agents with Lebron and Wade as possibilities.
I don't think Lebron to the Nets is a done deal by any means, but since the team isn't contending now you have to build for it. Pretty much any team that could add Lebron to their roster at no cost to them becomes a contender, like the Lakers when they signed Shaq. If you build a team of great young talent to surround him with (we have the PG, still need the SG, PF and C) and talk to him about being the face of a true dynasty in NYC, you know Lebron would listen.
The same goes for Wade. Furthermore, I do think Lebron will hit free agency. I can't see the Cavs ever fielding a good enough team in the near future to get further in the playoffs than their finals run, which was a fluke anyway IMO.
