These playoffs have been terrible!

Post#1 » by Serge28 » Sat May 10, 2008 8:51 am

I expected so much out of this year's playoffs after such a fantastic regular season, especially in the Western Conference. Instead, I've gotten one of the least exciting postseasons in recent history. Just one 7-game-series in the 1st round. With the exception of the Suns-Spurs Game 1 2OT thriller, no overtime games, and hardly any decided in the last seconds. No upsets. No intrigue.

I thought the 2nd round might be better, but it hasn't thus far. All the higher seeds lead their respective series, 2-1, 2-1, 2-1, and 2-0. What's worse, all 11 games played in the 2nd round have been won by the home team! Does anyone else feel like the playoffs have been a huge letdown so far?

From a general stand-point...

The Hawks home games were very fun

Watching the Celtics play has been fun

Suns/Spurs G2/G3 (not a competitive game, but the execution was terrific, and Tony Parker)/G5 were enjoyable

Hornets/Spurs G3 was good

Rockets/Jazz G2/3 were good

Nuggets/Lakers G4 was nice

Chris Paul

Kobe's 49 in G2 against Denver

Philly was fun for a little bit, and definitely made some noise

Terrible? Absolutely not. Great? No. Quality? No. Around average? Yeah. But that doesn't make things insignificant, it's still the playoffs. It's also far from over.

As good as expected? No. I didn't think it would be as good as hyped pre-playoff, but it's been lesser than I thought it'd be, as well. Collectively, I've still had significant enjoyment, and been intrigued for most of the games.

While not generally for sure, I really enjoyed Cavs/Celtics G1, being into the defensive side of the game, and it had enough offense in there, specifically with a number of big shots. Hard-played game, interesting to watch for a certain kind of fan.

Besides the Celtics/Hawks series, from a matchup standpoint, the first round was simply uneventful. Thus far, the 2nd round has been awful.

A bit anti-climatic.....but, Spurs, Denver & Orlando have pulled a game back and could make a series out of it just yet. I don't think the WCF will be a let down.

Did you watch Utah-Lakers series? I found it really great, esp. 3rd match.

What is so great about it? Two double-digit Laker wins at home and then a Utah home win, in which they led by at least 5 points in the last 3 minutes of the game.

You're clearly a Jazz fan if you prefered Game 3. ;) I was disappointed, though not surprised (in Utah), that the Lakers finally lost a game. They had a nice little streak going.

That series could go 7 if neither team gives up home court.

no, it's all about Hubie Brown reving in orgasms while watching this games.
Do you realize that the "greatness" of every game is subjactive? I was sitting today with the hundred people watching Utah - Lakers match-up and after leaving the bar everybody was saying how great this game was (Lakers and Jazz fans).

I like the play-offs and I don't understand why you don't

Terrible? You're crazy. Spurs-Suns was an excellent series, as well as Sixers-Pistons, Hawks-Celtics, Lakers-Nuggets, Cavs-Wizards and Hornets-Mavs. They were all competitive and exciting to watch. Stop hating.

Yeah, both conference final series should be good, too.

I agree it's been very disappointing. I would say the only good series was the Boston/Atlanta one.

Who would have ever thought the series would go 7 games?

But I've been pretty disappointed overall.

But these last few games have been pretty good.

The second round of the playoffs have been MUCH better than the first round, in my opinion.

The play-offs always feel like a let-down when your team isn't in it.

I wouldn't call it terrible but i was definetly expecting more out of the 1st round out west. Watching Atlanta take Boston to 7 was def nice though. If the Spurs can win G2, it'll be a pretty good one. If the Lakers can take G4 sunday this one is pretty much over!!!

What more do you want. every team that moved on to the second round were the better teams.

I will say I was wrong about the Spurs/Suns series I was saying 6 or 7 games, that ended in 5.

I only gave the Hawks 2 games instead of 3, I really didn't think they would take a 66 win team to 7 games.

I think the playoffs have been fun so far.

I'm holding out hope for a good Finals. I think that will redeem everything else.

The trick will be if L.A. and NO can finish off Utah and San Antonio.

If Utah and SA are in the Conference Finals I'm shifting my attention to cricket.
