MELO ON THE BLOCK!

Check Wiretap

Could Kiki reunite with Melo?

Well, do you think we have a shot. If so, what are realistic offers?

Btw, I'm personally on the fence about him. Even though he's so talented, he's got his share of negatives.

I don't know IF there's a realistic chance to aquire BUT if he should get traded it should be a clear signal to him that his managment doesn't trust him enough and he finally has to change his approach to the game .

Maybe a new environment would help him because Denver with George Karl is clearly not the right place for him.

If we get Melo, would we drop the Lebron hunt or would it help us get Lebron? They are friends. Lebron would help Melo.

I dont know who would play SG but...

PG - Whoever <--- Kidd returns for vet min.
G/F - melo - Robin
G/F - Lebron - Batman
PF - Whoever <-- S.Will becomes the 2nd coming of k-mart with a better low post game.
C - Whoever <--- Sign Brand to Mid level or JO for two kneepads with adjustable ICE BAGs

I do like Melo. However, pairing him and VC together is just asking for trouble.

who knows if they would want RJ , maybe they would want VC

cuz if they traded him ,and kept AI i would think they want a more experienced veteran like VC someones whos further in their career.

that would be a pretty old team. AI, VC, CAmby, all firmly in their thirties. forget how old kmart is. he might be on the cusp. he's already injury prone so we'll just call him old anyway.

anyway. melo's a great scorer. better rebounder than RJ because RJ doesn't try. but have you seen his defense? there's a reason the nuggets are so bad on that side of the floor. It's not all on him obviously but his swiss cheese defense sticks out in an already bad one.

Then again, RJ wont play D anyore so i guess it doesnt matter. Melo would just be a better RJ. package RJ with anyone outside devin or sean for him and im sold.

Thorn needs to make an offer that does not include Harris/Carter.

No sane GM would do this for Carmelo Anthony. We'd be stuck with a star who pulls some ridiculous stunts in order to get some street cred. He half assed it in the playoffs this year, put up empty stats during the regular season, and has been getting in trouble with the law as of late. If he can't win with a team as stacked as Denver, why in the world would you bring him to Jersey?

Batman and Robin? That's freaking Justic League. That would be so awesome though. It would never happen, but...that would be so awesome.

Melo is a dominant offensive player but he's an empty stats superstar. People used to chide AI that he got his but not in the team concept but AI is far superior to Melo in positive impact for his team, even off the court !

George Karl can't get this kid to play right and you think Lawrence Frank will ?

I love how Barbosa and now Melo's name has been thrown around as a positive trade for VC...all you need to know about that is two of those guys on teams that supposedly fit their run and gun styles are -6.4 and -3.2 while the other is +12.2.

The only thing that makes Melo intriguing is his age but the worry is when he's rounding up to 30 he'll still be the same age he is now. Also I like Melo in Denver, VC eats him up for breakfast/lunch/dinner everytime they play.

If you work the trade the right way, I think it's possible to get Melo and still have that cap room in 2010 for either LeBron, Bosh or Wade.

I know this might seem nuts to some, but I would trade both Carter and Jefferson in a Carmelo trade. It might not make NJ better in the short term, but it actually saves NJ about $15.6 million in 2010/11 (the LeBron year).

I think the mistake that a lot of people are making with the Carmelo trade stuff is that Denver would/should use Melo as a way to peddle off Kenyon. On a team where 2 of your 3 best players (AI and Camby) are on the wrong side of 30, you almost have to try to "win now". Trading Carmelo for picks and cap relief is insane unless your going to truly demolish the team by dealing Iverson and Camby as well. Even then, if the goal is to regroup with lottery picks and cap room, what are the odds landing a player with Carmelo's ability? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I realize this trade is quite unrealistic (just too big), but here's a trade idea that brings Carmelo to the Nets while setting themselves up to be in prime position for an elite free agent in the summer of 2010

Denver trades:
Carmelo Anthony
Nene

New Jersey trades:
Richard Jefferson
Sean Williams
Marcus Williams
Trenton Hassell
10th overall pick

The negatives are high for Melo but honestly, his trade value is higher than Jeffersons by himself and he is only 23 years of age. I'd trade for him for almost anyone on our team. A young superstar is hard to find.

This is absurdly too much.
His trade value is just not that high.

Also VC and AI?

I don't know.
