Cassell IS better then House
I don't get where all this bullcrap that House should play over Cassell came from. All House knows how to do is occasionally hit 3 pointers. Sam is the more playoff tested veteran. He's also got a better all around game.
I guess people are using the grass is greener logic. Sam is being underappreciated by a lot of people on this board.

No doubt that Cassell is a better player and can do more things than House on offense. However, his ego gets in the way of team's interest often. That's where all the gripe is coming from. If we're the Clippers with a collection of trash for roster, it's okay to have Cassell pound the ball and look for his own shot all game and kill the offense. Because no one cares if they go down the toilet or whatever. But in case you forgot, we're not that. We have capable players who can do everything Sam can do, but a lot better.
So ask yourself this question. Do we really need to have our backup PG, pound the ball and looking for only his offense, so he can be the man and take the big shot? I rather run our offense that led us to 66-win season than have to rely on our backup PG to make this imaginary big shot to save us.
The reason people want House and even TA in his place is because of his selfish acts that causes everyone to stand around and slow down the offense. Not only that, but Sam is probably the worst defensive player on the team, if not the worst among all the players left in the playoffs. So if he's killing the offense with his selfishness and we all know he doesn't even try on D, what good is it?
This isn't NBA 2k8 where you can have everyone stand around for quarters and they can just pick it back up and score. Even in video games, they have hot/cold system that sorta try to mimic the real life.
I think Cassell will be okay against the Cavs because their guards are atrocious and are essentially just spot up shooters. However, can you imagine what his ego will force him to do against Billups, the best PG in the East? I don't even wanna imagine it because we all know that he'll try to match Billups or one-up him, at the expense of the team.

Perhaps you need to get off the crack because it's clearly effecting your memory. I've never been a fan of Cassell and said exactly the same thing about his being selfish even before we signed him. You can go look at the old posts, if you need to be refreshed.
How about getting your facts straight before acting like you know caca. That would be a noble thing, right?

Cassell is not better than House or maybe even Tony Allen, not the way he's played in the playoffs. I highly doubt House puts up worse stats or hurts the team as much as Cassell has.
I thought the addition of Cassell was going to be huge, but it's not working out. It's time to try something different.

How is it not working out? We've got a 2 to 1 lead over your Cavaliers. Cassell has had some big games already with us like the one against Atlanta during the season.

There were plenty of us who didn't want Cassell even before he got on the team. I'm pretty sure tom was one of them, and even Tommy Heinsohn was saying on air that he thought they had to be careful because it could disrupt the flow and chemistry.
You are right, 90% of this board was pro-Cassell. And to Matt, who says how much things can change in one day - even in game 1 and 2, it was easy to see the flaws that Sam Cassell brings. Sure, he hit a big shot or two...but at what expense? The problem is that Sam chucks and chucks and chucks whether he is having a good game or not. 3 for 21 on the road is evidence of that.

Atleast Eddie knows his place on the team. JVG noted last night that our role players really don`t know their roles. Their was a point deep in the game last night where Rondo had more attempts than anyone else.... that simply cannot happen when you have Pierce and KG on the floor. Rondo seems to be forcing lately instead of passing and Sam just does whatever the hell he feels like. I guess I`m tryin to say is that Eddie won`t try to do too much and his play can be a great thing for the Big 3.

I don' see how cassell is physically more gifted than house. Cassell does have a better handle and it ends there. So in saying that, you live and die by Sam. When he is stroking it he can carry you when he isn't, your team falls. Sam shooting 0-6 shouldn't have caused us to lose. Why is going on with Paul and Ray? that is why we lost.

Cassell is definitely feast or famine. It's on Doc to manage that effectively. He's done OK with it. Last night Rondo was sucking too, so he actually tried House for quite a while. Didn't help much. But when Cassell is on he can win games for you too. Obviously Sam has to get going on the road, but it's not like he's a noob, he's a vet and isn't going to be rattled by playing on the road.

Sam Cassell is Sam Cassell. Why is anyone surprised at how he plays the game? This is how he has played his ENTIRE career. Guess what? It's GREAT when he's on and TERRIBLE when he's off. It's up to Doc to manage the game and when Cassell is playing bad (pounding the ball/airballing shots) he needs to
A) Take him out of the game.
B) Tell him to play smart.
C) Try and ride it out.
It seems like Doc has been going for C) thus far in the playoffs.

It's not working out because he's playing like garbage when it matters the most. Either he steps his game up by helping his team even when his shot isn't falling or you try something else.
You claim it's working because the Celts have a 2-1 lead over the Cavs? They could have had that 2-1 lead with or without him. He played well in game 2, but that was at home. They could have certainly got their ass kicked in game 3 on the road without him.
The Celts are going to get by Cleveland out of the East regardless of Cassell. They are simply better than Detroit, Orlando or Cleveland. I'm not changing my mind on that, but the Cassell addition has not worked out well thus far.
Ultimately the type of ugly loss we saw falls on KG & PP for not stepping up as leaders, but Cassell was brought in to be a veteran calming presence specifically for tough situations like road games in the post-season where predictably Young Rondo will be inconsistent.
Please tell me how you would assess Cassell's play on the road in the playoffs in hostile environments while Young Rondo is struggling, the exact role he was brought in to excel at.
The playoffs are not over, Boston can figure this thing out and Cassel can improve. I'm not writing him off, but I have no idea how you can say Cassell hasn't been a failure up to this point.

The problem is Doc hasnt been riding the hot hand. He has pretty much forgotten about Eddie House. I liked the idea of signing Cassell because I thought he and Eddie would make a great interchangeable duo off the bench. But what has happened is Doc has played Cassell exclusively whether he is having a good game or not.

You can't count what House got so far in the playoffs as PT. The only time House's in the game is when Cassell has already flushed the team down the toilet and we're already down 20. WTF is the point of putting him then? They might as well let Sam in there as a punishment. If he tears his ACL in that time, all the better
No one can prove his anything, getting absolute trash minutes after the team's already down 20+ with no chance of winning and everyone already looking at the next game.
If we don't win the championship this year, it'll be because of Doc and Cassell. At least then, we'll never have to see either of those trash again.

That is not what we signed him for.
Yep Cassell at home is excellent, on the road he can't seem to make a shot and looks like a chucker. It's like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, although you can say the same for most of the Celtic players this postseason, Cassell's fluctuations seem to be the worst...
