Diaw and Barbosa's contracts
What is the status of their contracts this off-season? They were both BYC1 this year, does that mean will they be BYC2 next year? I'm just wondering how feasible it would be to trade these guys.
I really don't want to trade Barbosa because he is so damn good off of the bench and has a decent contract, but I wouldn't mind trading Boris for a very good defensive SF. But if there is still a trade restriction it might be too hard to trade him.

or danny granger, antawn jamison.... or anyone like this..
Danny G for that package would be a dream-come-true. It won't happen, but I definitely would love it, he's a great player and would be a good fit.
Getting Artest seems a lot more likely, but I wouldn't trade both Barbs and the pick for him since his value, at least in my opinion, shouldn't be this high at the moment, espcecially since he could just leave Sac-Town for nothing.

Mike D'Antoni wants to add favorite Suns, unload Stephon Marbury

I feel like this is just a joke...

Once D'Antoni is formally named to succeed Isiah Thomas, he is expected to try to make a push for two of his favorite Suns - forward Boris Diaw and guard Leandro Barbosa, who reportedly have fallen out of favor with Suns management. According to a person close to D'Antoni, one of his first moves would be to get the Knicks to offer Marbury and his expiring $22 million contract as a central part of the deal.
Because of the Suns players mentioned in this scenario, no one will be surprised if D'Antoni starts lobbying Donnie Walsh today to call Phoenix president Steve Kerr to begin trade talks.
"He loves Boris and Barbosa and he didn't like Marbury when he had him," said the source. "So this is the type of move that can jump-start D'Antoni's program right off the bat. He went to New York with the notion that he will have input and help alter the roster to get his kind of players."
Why would Marbury be attractive, coming off ankle surgery and an awful season? Sarver and the Suns could take his money off the books in July 2009, leading to future cap flexibility. And with D'Antoni gone, they're also going to want to revamp their roster to fit Kerr's vision.
In the meantime, Kerr still has Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire and the human cap-killer, Shaquille O'Neal. Other than those three, Kerr is apt to start dealing off players who only help in D'Antoni's system.
I feel like this is just a joke...

This is the same mentality that got us no pick in return for Shawn...and the same mentality that got us to throw in 2 picks to dump KT for a conditional 2nd round pick.

hmmm
Lebron signed an extension, he's not going anywhere for a while. Paul & Williams are RFAs, and naturally extensions, their own teams can offer more money and a larger contract. Don't know why they would come to a rebuilding team anyway, especially when they are already perfect fits on their current ones. Pipe dreams at best. Sorry if you're just being sarcastic, but I see a lot of other posters getting their hopes way too high up there.

Check again bro. Guys like LeBron and Wade signed contract extensions, but not with max years because they wanted to be able to redo it when they're eligible for a much larger percentage of a team's cap.
CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers finally got the autograph they wanted most.
LeBron James signed a three-year contract extension worth about $60 million Tuesday, cementing a deal announced last week.
The All-Star forward signed the contract in Las Vegas, where he was preparing to train with the U.S. team for the world championships.
The deal will keep James with the Cavaliers through the 2009-10 season and includes a player option for a fourth year. The extension is for two fewer years than the deal the Cavs offered, a five-year package worth about $80 million.
But by the summer of 2010, James will be a seven-year veteran with the option of seeking a new contract as an unrestricted free agent, making him eligible to negotiate a maximum contract worth 30 percent of the salary cap. Players with less than seven years experience can earn only 25 percent of the cap.
"We did extensive research and with the way the CBA is set up, it makes the most business sense to sign this extension and then look at another new contract in four years," James said last week, following an announcement that eased Cavs fans' anxieties that had built up as he deliberated over the offer.

Thanks, but I already know. He was asking if they were all going to be free agents that year. Never said anything about Lebron being an RFA. There is very little chance that Lebron is going to come here. Cleveland is going to do everything they can to keep him. Even then, if he opts out, he is looking towards a bigger market. By that time, Nash & Shaq will be at the end of their careers, Grant Hill will most likely be gone, and we will be stuck with too many question marks to lure him here. Hopefully Kerr can create a team that stars will want to play for, like what Nash & D'antoni did for the Suns, but it wouldn't be worth it to get our hopes up.
