Thunder Dan Majerle wants to be an assistant coach for Suns.

Dan Majerle, a former player for both the Heat and Suns, reportedly wants an assistant coaching job with Phoenix, according to The Miami Herald.

He currently works as a TV Analyst for the Suns, and is rumored to have met with general manager Steve Kerr about a place on the bench.

Majerle spent his first seven NBA seasons with the Suns.

Cool. Thunder DAN should take over for D'ANtoni.

Sure, because broadcasting means that you have the skills to be a coach(or an effing GM for that matter :( )

I have a whole helluva lot more faith in Dan Majerle than I do Steve Kerr. At least Majerle knows the damn franchise.

Dan would make a decent Asst. IMHO. He knows his BB and would be one of the few candidates that would have a genuine loyalty towards the team.

Personally, I would rather have Eddie Johnson as an assistant than Dan Majerle. I'm not saying that Thunder Dan is not capable, but I'm always enlighten hearing Eddie Johnson break down games and players. Eddie Johnson is a much better candidate than Thunder Dan in my opinion.

Forget about the coffee. How about some secret sauce?

Tom Leander for assistant.

We need to ORANGE CRUSH them. We need some RAJA THAT from Raja, so kick the ball out when he's open. Or if LB is open, kick the ball to him for some STRAIGHT AND SWEET. If they close out on our shooters, kick the ball to Amare so he can ELEVATE AND DETONATE.

Pat Riley was a broadcaster for the Lakers before he was a coach. Paul Westhead hired him on as one of his assistants then within 2 years he was the Lakers head coach.

Also wanted to throw in that I had no idea Pat Riley was a Phoenix Sun in the 1975-1976 season.........perennial bench player though.

Eddie deserves a shot for at least an assistant position. The man straight up knows his basketball and has a very commanding aura about him. He also knows this team like the back of his hand having watched them now for so long as well as maintained off court relationships with the players.

That's not the point. If we want to remain competitive, we can't hire someone with ZERO coaching experience. People have to prove the ability to manage egos, create offensive and defensive game plans and be able to design plays on the fly. EJ may be able to do all those things, but he's never proven that he can do any of them either. That's why we can't hire him. He is NOT proven. Shaq was undermining SVG in Miami before Riley took over. How the hell is he going to listen to Dan Majerle or Eddie Johnson? And if Shaq doesn't listen, can you image Black Jesus.

We need a legitimate veteran coach who will command the respect of the roster full of veterans. Not Dan Majerle. Not Eddie Johnson.

EDIT: ok my bad you mean EJ for assistant. I don't mind him as our assistant at all. Just not the head coach...

The biggest different between an Eddie Johnson and Ron Jeremy errrrr SVG is the fact that Eddie was a player in the league. There's a different kind of respect paid to former players. I agree that it is risky given how many veterans we have on the team.......regardless, I still think Eddie deserves to be AT LEAST an assistant. It's my personal opinion that he displays all the qualities of a guy who would make a fantastic head coach one day.

Dan would make a great shooting coach - as I remember, he was sorta-OK from the 3-point line...

SVG wishes he was Ron Jeremy.

And seriously, I still cannot see ANY RESEMBLANCE of relation between those guys. Can someone please point something out to me? Can anyone bloat JVG up to about 250 on photoshop or something? That might give us a better idea..

Anyway. I still say JVG for coach.. Well, Brown, but everyone thinks it's a bad idea so it probably is :)

Thunder Dan is a great choice for Assistant. I mean, we had MikeD's brother there to personally coach Barbosa, and look what good that did us.

*EDIT* Sorry about my idiot double post :banghead: :banghead:

I don't think assistants make that big a difference, so I'd rather see EJ as an assistant than Majerle. Solely because Majerle is so much better of an announcer.
