That's your opinion, but theere are much more options that can come up with prospects like Beasley and Rose available. Those are realistic trades that realgm thinks, we have nothing to do with the front office and just because we feel it's a good trade, doesn't mean the organization will. It is pretty pointless to narrow the choices down to 3 trades.its game time wrote:Beasley is not going to be traded unless its for---- Melo,Dirk + Terry, To slide to number 2 and we dump Blount or Elton brand and maggette.

I like Dirk and what he can do, but his only real asset is his shooting, which is fantastic, but he's not a strong contributor anywhere else. Haslem's four inches shorter and grabs more boards than he does. Dirk doesn't have the right attitude for his size. He could do a lot more damage if he was more than a shooter.
Speaking of attitude, when David West put his finger into Dirk's face, Dirk should have headbutted him or pushed him in the face with his finger or something because no matter what the score or consequences you don't let another man put his finger into your face without compensation.

CoolD,
You do good sometimes, and others you just act clueless to what was previously discussed. Laugh at yourself.
I wouldn't trade Marion and the number one for Dirk and Terry. I wouldn't do it. You probably missed that part. If the Mavs were giving him away then yes, but that's not what was being discussed.
Feel free to read a few posts ahead.

But I could see a Shawn Marion, for Dirk.
We add Haslem, Blount. They give us Erick Dampier.
Rose, Wade, James Jones,, Nowitzki, Dampier
Not to shabby.
Or we sign a SF that can shoot the three. Rose and Wade the drivers, the SF we sign, and Nowitzki space the floor, extremly lethal team
But yeah I don't want to give the first pick though. But you seem to imply, that you wouldn't even want him because he doesn't want to fight like Ron Artest, or Alexander Johnson.
Am willing to work for a trade if it was possible, but the only exception is the first pick. But if we landed the third or fourth pick. I would definite think about trading it.

I don't think I disguised the second portion of my post as a reference that I wouldn't take Dirk because of this particular situation.
Think of it as an addendum or a postscript to the previous paragraph notating the negative in Nowitizki.
I think that Dirk is a fantastic scorer, but I actually prefer Marion because he impacts the game in scoring, rebounding, defense, fastbreaks, etc. Marion is a total package. Overlooked and underrated is his motto. Scoring makes waves. Always has and will unfortunately. I realize it's value, but a complete game (think Luke Walton, Shane Battier) makes a world of difference, especially when you already have a legitimate star who needs well-rounded, tangible players to benefit from his excellence.
Before you jump to conclusions and say, "Dirk is waaay better than Walton and Battier!", realize that I'm talking about their role-playing impact on the game.

Dirk Nowitzki during the regular season, was the 7th most efficient player in the whole NBA. He had a short first round, but placed at the moment as the third most efficient player in this years Playoffs.DayofMourning wrote:I don't think I disguised the second portion of my post as a reference that I wouldn't take Dirk because of this particular situation.

And considering this wasn't even his best year, I truly find it just pure laughable to paint him as just a shooter. You don't get that high in efficiency, you don't win 65 games one season, you don't get to the Finals by just mostly being a big shooter.
I like Shawn Marion, I always been a guy that wanted him here. But a guy like Nowitzki would even be better. I do agree some Heat fans just want scorers, but Nowitzki is not just a shooter.

Scoring at a high clip with decent rebouding and a high FT% will make you an efficiency superstar. I have no problem with that.
Just look at his On court/ Off court net
He has a positive +12.7
Meaning when he is on the court, his team benefits a lot of his very high efficiency, The numbers don't lie.

In the finals with Miami, it was Haslem & Posey who is guarding Dirk. Marion for Phoenix, Bowen with SA. Dirk is a jump shooter and you don't let your center guard him.MartyConlonJr wrote: The prospect of Dirk Nowitzki at center in the east dragging big men out of the paint so Wade can go to work is at the very least extremely intriguing.
We need a post presence that can command double team to free up some of our players.
I am not intrigue with the offense Dirk provides because we know he's good at that department but his defense and toughness is questionable.

I like Marion, but I would take Dirk in a heartbeat over him. Much better offensive player...and he's not just a shooter (Peja is a pure shooter in my book). He has a nice high post game. His rebounding is okay and his defense is not as bad as it use to be early on (though definitely not as good as Marion's). He's a Top 10 guy in the NBA who can will his team to a win. Look at the rest of their roster...besides Cheech Howard and maybe Jason terry there's not a lot that stands out on that roster and yet Nowitzki has gotten that team into the playoffs and won a high number of games.
All this is moot. There's no way Cuban trades Dirk for anything less than a blockbuster.
